OTR Summer Jam Sunday Standouts Part 2 – May 23, 2023

On The Radar returned to home base this weekend for Summer Jam and gathered some of the top programs in the state. Big name prospects like Ace Bailey, Braedan Lue, and Gicarri Harris squared off making for some entertaining highlights and down to the wire finishes. These were a couple of my standouts from the 17u division on Sunday.

2024 W Harry Kitey – Dunwoody United

Six months ago, I considered Harry Kitey to be a hidden gem. Now, he’s on the boards of scouts and college coaches across the country. Kitey was cooking on Sunday morning, knocking down perimeter jumpers when left open and getting to the cup where he uses his 6’6 size to finish over defenders. He finished that game with 31 points including 7 three-pointers. High-academic schools are beginning to line up. WashU, MIT, and Johns Hopkins are all showing interest.

2024 G Bryce Kennebrew – Play With Heart

I’ve been eager to get eyes on Play With Heart all spring and Sunday provided a great showing, despite being without big man Kenneth Chime. Bryce Kennebrew shined in the backcourt, effective playing on and off the ball. The competitive fire is apparent, but Kennebrew does a good job of maintaining composure throughout. He likes to get in the paint and did a lot of that Sunday, playing off two feet once he got there and drawing a ton of fouls. From what I saw this weekend, Kennebrew has the makings of a next level guard prospect.

2024 G Nikolas Avaliani – Team Scoot TJ

It can be a number of guys on any given day for this Team Scoot squad but Avaliani is the one that’s often overlooked. Avaliani may not put up the big scoring numbers but he excels in his role and every team needs some of those guys. He first comes off as a 3 & D guy and I think he’ll thrive in that role next year at Walton. Avaliani’s impact spans beyond that, however. He’s a willing rebounder and fights hard for loose balls. Also shown the ability to run the floor and play well in transition. I’m eager to see how the month of June looks for Avaliani.

2024 G Zion Greene – AOT AJ

Zion Greene has been tabbed my multiple contributors this spring as he continues on a tear for AOT’s 2025 group. Greene is a solid-bodied guard that likes to get downhill and attack the rim. His motor and physicality wear down opposing guards while Greene keeps his pedal to the metal. The next step for Greene is incorporating his jumper more and adding levels to his scoring package. He should be in for a major role increase at McDonough next year and this AAU season may just be the prequel to that.
