NORCROSS – The fifth annual Greater Atlanta Christian Showcase hosted by Blue Collar Basketball displayed some of the top programs in the state of Georgia. These matchups allowed for a terrific showdown over the weekend. The line-up included nationally ranked players such as Doral Moore, Kobi Simmons, Alterique Gilbert, and Kaiser Gates. Here is a look at a few individuals who took advantage of the exposure.

Stephon Jelks (Kennesaw, Ga), North Cobb Christian School – 2014
The Mercer signee helped the Eagles secure a big lead early as he knocked down two 3-pointers in the half to go along with several easy baskets around the rim. Jelks is a workhorse forward in the lane but this weekend he displayed his perimeter skill and finished with a game high 22 points.
Alterique Gilbert (Lithonia, Ga) – Miller Grove HS – 2016
This 5-foot-10 lead guard has been one of the best guards we have seen this season. He continues to show up on the big stage week after week. This weekend he showed more of the same production as his Miller Grove squad was facing a talented St. Francis team. While being down by a point with 12 seconds left in the game, Gilbert took matters into his own hands. The sophomore guard penetrated the lane to score the winning lay-up with just 3 seconds to play. Gilbert continues to add dimensions to his game that will lead to continued success for the Wolverines.
Bryce Brown (Decatur, Ga) – Columbia HS – 2015
Brown was able to get going in the late in the game by scoring 11 of his 13 points in the second half. This scoring burst helped his team pull away from Kell to secure a victory. The 6-3 guard has a very quick first step and changes speed well to get his opponents off balance. His pull-up jumper is the strength of his game right now.
Garrett Covington (Lilburn, GA), Greater Atlanta Christian – 2016
The sophomore guard provided a big spark in the second half helping Greater Atlanta Christian pull away from Luella. A 6-3 guard, Covington knocked down four 3-pointers and also finished several buckets at the rim. Covington finished with a career high 25 points.
