#OTRHoopsReport: What We Learned – St. John’s Bosco — Jan. 13, 2014

The City of Palms Classic taught us a lot about St. John’s Bosco and their dynamic high-major college bound backcourt of Tyler Dorsey and Daniel Hamilton.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The City of Palms Classic has established itself as the nation’s most prestigious tournament on an annual basis. The 41st edition featured a St. John’s Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) squad that boasts arguably the premier high school backcourt in the country. Throw in class of 2016 wing Vance Jackson and coach Derrick Taylor has no shortage of weapons to deploy against opposing teams.

Tyler Dorsey – 2015

Dorsey just committed to the University of Arizona this past weekend. The 6-foot-4 perimeter threat is an explosive guard capable of making the 3-pointer off of the catch or off the bounce. Dorsey has a feel to his game of a young Austin Rivers given his penchant for making plays with the ball in his hands. He is fast from end-to-end and explosive off the floor. Arizona coach Sean Miller is going to love putting the basketball in Dorsey’s hand as the shot clock winds down to make a play.

Daniel Hamilton – 2014

A Connecticut signee, Hamilton is a bigtime scorer especially off of the catch and shoot on the wing. He can create his own shot especially in the midrange at 15 feet coming off of his left hand. He’s a specialist in that area with length to go with it. He’ll give UConn coach Kevin Ollie the same thing that he’s giving Derrick Taylor – buckets early and often.
