OTR’s The Florida Opening: Unsigned Seniors – March 27, 2023

This weekend played host to The Florida Opening, On The Radar’s first of five events that will take place in Florida this spring and summer. Still early in the year, teams are beginning to generate momentum and the storylines are beginning to write themselves. These are a few unsigned seniors that made the most of their weekend in Daytona.

2023 W Caleb Hannah – Florida Sons Gold (Victory Rock)

Caleb Hannah was the first prospect to catch my eye early Saturday morning and his name continued to circulate throughout the weekend. The size and athleticism jump out immediately, 6’8 and a fluid athlete that plays above the rim. Hannah handles it well in space and like to attack the rim, especially dangerous in transition. When you look at everything Hannah has to offer, it’s hard to believe he’s still available. Bethune-Cookman offered back in January.

2023 G Miquel Tirado – Florida Royals (Harmony)

Miguel Tirado was one of the purest point guards in the gym this weekend. The pass-first point guard is wildly underappreciated in today’s basketball climate but Tirado makes it look fun. He’s got a handle that’s ready for the college level and uses it with purpose to penetrate the defense or create for his teammates. In transition, Tirado is a smooth operator and makes good decisions with the ball. Any D2/NAIA schools still looking for a point guard should take a hard look at Miguel Tirado.

2023 G Zeq Munoz – FTL Elite Black (Santa Fe Catholic)

FTL Elite has made a statement through the first two weekends of the OTR circuit and they couldn’t have done so without their unsigned duo, Zeq Munoz and Angel Canuelas. Both guys can fill up the scoresheet but Munoz has such a complete game that has impact goes much deeper. He’s got a solid frame which he uses well when attacking the rim and plays physical on-ball defense. His three-point stroke is pure and he can heat up quickly. I expect Munoz to continue making noise until he finally signs with a program.

2023 G Josiah Harding – Florida Bayhawks (Sumner)

Josiah Harding certainly upped his stock this weekend and had the whole gym buzzing after a 30-point performance in a competive matchup against Nightrydas. Harding is a natural scorer, able to use his burst off the dribble to get to his mid-range spots or all the way to the cup. Defenses couldn’t stay in front of him and had no choice but to send him to the free throw line where he lived all weekend. With big time performances like this weekend, Josiah Harding won’t be unsigned for too long.
