OTR Hoops: 2027 Midseason Stock Risers in Florida (Part1)
We have reached the midway point of the 2025-2026 high school basketball season across the state of Florida. Here are some of the top stock risers in this year’s junior class.

Anthony Brown - Boca Ciega - 2027
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard is a strong wing who can knock down shots from the perimeter as well as being aggressive finishing at the front of the rim on the offensive end. On the defensive end, Brown brings a unique skill set of strength and athleticism, where he can also guard multiple positions with confidence. He is having a strong junior season where he is averaging 18.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for the Pirates.
Donovan Gaines - Specially Fit Academy - 2027
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard has emerged as one of the top two-way guards in the area. On the offensive end, he is at his best when it comes to creating his own shot off the bounce, where he can finish at the point of attack, as well as being able to create separation out on the perimeter. Gaines is a shifty ball-handler who can create havoc for the defense, changing direction and playing at his own pace. On defense, he can guard in the full court as well as be effective in transition, using his length and athleticism in the passing lanes. College coaches should make note of Gaines as the rest of the season rolls on.
Tysen Jefferson - North Tampa Christian - 2027
The 6-foot-1 point guard is quick and scrappy when it comes to the defensive end of the floor, where he uses his athleticism to his advantage to apply pressure in the passing lanes. On the offensive end, Jefferson does a great job when it comes to 1-on-1 matchups using his quickness to his advantage, where he can finish at the front of the rim. He can also be a perimeter threat when it comes to knocking down deep shots from behind the arc when left uncovered. He also adds a ton of versatility to his game where he can guard multiple positions using his lateral movement and is very quick to react in the passing lanes.

Johnny Lackaff - Sarasota - 2027
The 6-foot-3 point guard has thrived this season for the Sailors, who made their first Final Four appearance in 56 years last year. Lackaff is a vital three-level scorer on the offensive end, where he can be effective off the bounce as well as the catch. His tight handle and ability to finish strong at the rim with either hand have made huge strides in his overall offensive game. On defense, he is super intelligent when it comes to guarding the ball as well as off the ball, using his discipline, where he can challenge shots at the rim without fouling. Look for Lackaff’s recruitment to heat up as we get near the spring, where he played last season with Austin Rivers Elite.

Miguel Orbe - Miami Country Day - 2027
The 6-foot-3 guard displays a full arsenal skill set on the offensive end, where he can pull up in the mid-range as well as being effective from behind the perimeter. He can score off the catch as well as the bounce as he plays with a ton of confidence, making him a tough matchup for opposing defenses. On defense, he plays with a ton of length, where he does a great job at staying in front of opposing ball handlers, as well as being effective in the passing lanes. He is a high-level rebounder for his size and is unafraid when it comes to pushing defense into offense with his speed and court awareness.

Dominick Walsh - Northside Christian - 2027
The 5-foot-11 point guard plays with a ton of flashiness on the offensive end, whether it’s his ability to no-look pass to his teammates or using his speed to get to the front of the rim. He can also be effective when it comes to shooting from the perimeter as well as getting to his spots in the mid-range. On defense, he is quick to react in the passing lanes as well as using his athleticism to battle on the glass, where he can push tempo. Walsh could draw a lot of attention from college coaches with his high IQ and playmaking ability.
