OTR Hoops: Iverson Classic Standouts (Part 2)

MIDDLETON, Fla.- The 4 th Annual Iverson Classic has made its appearance in the Sunshine State. 32 teams from across the country, as well as outside the United States, are making an appearance in this session. Here is who stood out.

Martay Barnes - Academy of Central Florida - 2027: Barnes displayed his smooth shooting stroke on the offensive end, where his limitless range opened up the floor for his teammates. He used his quickness to his advantage, finishing above the rim under control, and was unafraid when it came to playing through contact. On defense, Barnes applied relentless pressure when guarding the ball as well as utilizing his athleticism to cover the passing lanes. He has positioned himself to have a breakout spring and summer season on the circuit, which could create a ton of noise on the recruitment trail.

Tai Bell -  Mater Lakes Academy - 2028: Bell showcased his elite scoring arsenal, where he made an impact on three scoring levels. He finished with 31 points on an efficient 5-of-9 shooting from behind the arc against Academy of Central Florida, including knocking down timely shots at the point of attack at the front of the rim. On the defensive end, Bell used his anticipation and length to be disruptive in the passing lanes, as well as challenge opposing guards into taking tough shots. He then followed up with a 30-point performance in the game against Bilingual Academy on Saturday. His combination of skill sets, including floor awareness and being an offensive threat, should attract a ton of attention from coaches as the spring season nears.

Josiah Brooks - Sports Leadership &Management (Miami) - 2029: Brooks can influence the game in a variety of ways on the offensive end, whether it is his three-level scoring or his creativity for his teammates. He made strong, crisp passes off the dribble, as well as being able to finish around the rim with confidence. Defensively, he did a great job when it came to rotating and disrupting offensive flow. His maturity and composure for his age go beyond his years, which has already drawn attention from college coaches. Expect Brooks to be a focal leader for his team down the stretch where he could lead his team to a possible deep playoff run this season.

Alexander Dipaolo - Central Florida Christian Academy - 2026: The recent Army commit displayed his two-way presence where he flourished around the rim on both ends of the floor. On offense, he played an inside-out game, showcasing his footwork around the rim as well as out on the perimeter. Defensively, he used his strength and athleticism on the glass as an elite rebounder, showing he was unafraid when it came to pushing the tempo in transition. His combination skillset between his three-level scoring on the offensive end and his toughness on the defensive end should allow Dipaolo to make an immediate impact at the next level.

Elijah Gilroy - Bell Creek Academy - 2026: Gilroy is a shifty guard who knocked down tough shots off the bounce as well as the catch on the offensive end. On defense, he showed his true versatility, where he guarded multiple positions and is an above-average rebounder for his size. The combination skillset of being a distributor on the offensive end and being an elite rebounder from the guard position could catch some eyes in his recruitment as he remains unsigned.

Donovan Swain - Coral Glades - 2027: Swain showcased his scoring prowess when it came to playing off the ball as well as getting to his spots on the offensive end. He controlled the offense from the lead guard position with his elite footwork and decision-making when it came to finding teammates on the move. On defense, he was active on the glass as well as applying constant pressure when covering the passing gaps. His high motor allows him to be a consistent threat on both ends of the floor, which could open doors for his recruitment as the spring and summer season approaches.
