OTR Hoops News: 2026 4-star Point Guard Reopens Commitment

Three-sport standout Dionte Neal announced he has de-committed from UNC-Greensboro following the departure of head coach Mike Jones on Wednesday:

Dionte Neal, A four-star point guard out of Reidsville High School in Reidsville, North Carolina, reposted a social media post from SLAM HS Hoops that he has decided to reopen his recruitment.

Neal is not just a standout on the basketball court. He is also a star wide receiver and occasionally plays quarterback on the school’s football team, where he led the Rams to a 13-2 record and won the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) Class 7A championship. On Friday, he will attempt to cap off his high school basketball career, in which the Rams look to win a third consecutive state championship and have only lost two games throughout his four years with the Rams.

During his senior season with Reidsville, Neal is averaging 35.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 8.6 assists, and 6.4 steals per game. Earlier this season, Neal became the all-time leading scorer in Rockingham County history, as well as the first player in North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) history to record 1,000 steals.

During his sophomore and junior seasons, Neal was a part of a 63-game winning streak that stretched from the beginning of the 2023-2024 season to December 26, 2025, when they lost to Washington High School at the John Wall Holiday Invitational.

Neal has heard from the following schools: Appalachian State, Boston College, Bethune-Cookman, East Tennessee State, Hampton, High Point, and Western Carolina.

As far as his football recruitment goes, he has heard from Appalachian State, Bethune-Cookman, East Tennessee State, and Western Kentucky, where he is being recruited as a wide receiver.
