Nate Oats lands another four-star recruit in the Class of 2026 as Jaxon Richardson committed to the Crimson Tide on Thursday:

Jaxon Richardson, A four-star small forward, announced he has committed to the University of Alabama on Thursday. Richardson, became the third recruit in Nate Oats’ 2026 recruiting cycle for the Crimson Tide. Richardson joins four-star shooting guards Tarris Bouie and Qayden Samuels.

Richardson is the brother of current Orlando Magic shooting guard Jase Richardson and is the son of former 13-year National Basketball Association (NBA) veteran Jason Richardson.

The 6-foot-6 senior chose the Crimson Tide over three other finalists, such as Creighton, Ole Miss, and USC. He also held offers from Cincinnati, Florida, Michigan, Villanova, and several others. Richardson plays his high school basketball at Southeastern Preparatory Academy in Orlando, Florida, after playing the previous two seasons at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, where he won back-to-back state championships and was part of their 2025 Chipotle National Champions team, paired with Cameron and Cayden Boozer.

While playing this season with Southeastern Preparatory Academy, Richardson averaged 12.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 61% from inside the three-point line and 34% from behind the arc.

Richardson is a high-flying prospect who can play above the rim offensively and defensively. While his shooting has made huge strides, it remains a work in progress as he shot under 20% from behind the three-point line during the Nike EYBL circuit last summer, playing with the Florida Rebels. He has made huge strides as a cutter towards the basket, as well as a better passer and rebounder from the wing position. Overall, Richardson can impact the game with his athleticism and by asserting himself as a rebounder, particularly on the offensive glass. While playing this season with Southeastern Preparatory Academy, Richardson averaged 12.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 61% from inside the three-point line and 34% from behind the arc.

Richardson took official visits to each of his four remaining schools, with his most recent visit coming to Ole Miss back in November.
