Aaron Britt Jr, A 6-foot-2 senior point guard out of The Villages Charter High School in Middleton, Florida, announced he has committed to Texas Tech University on Monday. Britt made an official visit to Lubbock last weekend, becoming the first commit in the upcoming recruiting cycle for Grant McCasland and the Red Raiders.

Britt Jr. chose the Red Raiders over Cincinnati, Dayton, Florida State, Michigan State, among several others. 

Britt Jr. is rated the No. 52 overall-ranked recruit, the No. 13 point guard, and the No. 11 overall-ranked player in Florida for the class of 2027, according to 247Sports.

During his junior season at The Villages Charter, Britt led his team in scoring, where he averaged 14.4 points per game while shooting 41% from inside the three-point line and 30% from behind the three-point line, according to MaxPreps. He also averaged 2.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game last season for The Buffalo, where they reached the 2026 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 3A Championship Game before coming up short of the program’s first state title in school history against Calvary Christian Academy (Fort Lauderdale). 

During the Grassroots season, Britt played for Tre Mann Elite, where he played a key role and helped lead them to the PRO16 League 17U Division championship in Bryan, Texas, back in July.

Scouting Report on Aaron Britt Jr.: Britt is a true floor general, a point guard who prioritizes setting the table but can certainly get his own shot when the situation calls for it. He operates primarily in a controlled and deliberate tempo, always surveying the floor where he finds openings in the defense. He is quick to push the tempo in transition-scoring opportunities. His decision-making when the basketball is in his hands is advanced for his age, as he rarely forces plays and shows a great understanding of when to attack the rim. He impacts the game on both ends of the floor with precision, making it difficult for opponents to initiate their sets. Overall, Britt is projected to be a multi-year starter at the next level, where he will settle in as a primary playmaker and can elevate his team’s offensive efficiency. He has a high basketball IQ and shows elite court vision, and he could see himself being highly considered for a solid pro career following his collegiate playing days.
