RJ Moore, a 6-foot-7 senior shooting guard out of Ambassador Christian School in Huntersville, North Carolina, announced Friday that he has narrowed his school list to six. Moving forward, Moore will consider the following schools: Alabama, Rutgers, Texas Tech, Utah, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest. Before trimming his list down to six, Moore was being recruited by Appalachian State, Charlotte, Florida State, Georgia, Mississippi State, Syracuse, and Virginia.

Moore has scheduled three official visits with his remaining finalists, traveling to Rutgers (September 3), Vanderbilt (September 10), and Alabama (September 25). Moore is rated as the No. 41 overall player in the country, the No. 3 ranked shooting guard, and the top-ranked player in the state of North Carolina for the upcoming senior class, according to 247Sports. 

During his junior season at Ambassador Christian School, Moore averaged 18.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, in which he led the team in each category, according to MaxPreps. He shot 41% from the field, 32% from behind the arc, and 66% from the free-throw line last season. The Lions finished the 2025-2026 season with a 15-13 record and did not qualify for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) playoffs.

Moore is the son of current North Carolina A&T Assistant Coach Ricky Moore, who has held the position since 2023. Ricky played his collegiate basketball career at the University of Connecticut from 1995 to 1999, including making an appearance in the National Championship Game during his senior season. During the 1998-1999 season, Moore averaged 6.8 points and 3.6 assists per game.

Scouting Report on RJ Moore: Moore is listed at 6-foot-7 and can make an impact in multiple ways, and understands floor spacing, where he is constantly seeking opportunities to get open, whether coming off screens or relocating along the three-point line. On the offensive end, his game is predicated on his jump shot, which he develops with a smooth and consistent shooting stroke. On the defensive end, he uses his length to contest shots and disrupt passing lanes, demonstrating solid effort on that end without always being a primary factor. projects as a high-major college contributor, likely filling a critical role as an instant-offense shooting guard or wing. Overall, his shooting ability gives him immediate value, giving him a clear pathway to minutes early in his collegiate career.
