Markus Kerr, A 6-foot-6 senior small forward, announced his commitment to Xavier University while on his official visit on Friday. Brandon Jenkins of 247Sports was the first to report the news.

The 6-foot-6 senior small forward out of Wellington Sports Academy in Florida chose the Musketeers over notable schools such as Boston College, Georgetown, Oklahoma State, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia, and several others. He narrowed down his schools to Baylor, Maryland, NC State, and Tennessee earlier in the summer.

Before coming over to the Sunshine State to finish out his high school playing career, Kerr played under long-time head coach Jason Smith at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, where they played in the Nike EYBL Scholastic. Kerr made the move after Smith departed Brewster Academy and was named the new head coach at Master’s Academy International in Massachusetts back in May. Smith spent 26 seasons as the head coach at Brewster Academy, where he won seven national prep championships, accumulated over 700 victories, and sent more than 200 players to play collegiate basketball at the Division-1 level.

Kerr is the No. 76 overall-ranked player in the nation, the No. 19 small forward, and the No. 15 overall-ranked player in the state of Florida for the class of 2027, according to 247Sports.

During the Grassroots season, Kerr played for Team United on the Nike EYBL Circuit, where he averaged 15.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.

During his junior season at Brewster Academy, Kerr averaged 13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 54% from the field and 35% from the three-point line.

Scouting Report on Markus Kerr: Kerr is a modern wing who can impact the game in multiple ways with his shooting and playmaking on the offensive end. He generally doesn’t get rushed when it comes to having the basketball in his hands. His decision-making is pure for his age, and he generates himself as a floor spacer. On the defensive end, his length speaks volumes, and his length and strength continue to make an immediate impact. He uses his length to his advantage, particularly in the passing lanes where he can generate steals and get deflections with his reach. He has added muscle to his frame, which he can use to apply his physicality on the glass to limit the opposition from getting second-chance scoring opportunities.

Kerr joins four-star shooting guard Brandon Mason Jr. out of Link Academy as the two Musketeers’ commitments for the upcoming recruiting cycle under Richard Pitino. Mason Jr. announced his commitment to Xavier earlier in the week following an official visit.
