King Gibson, A 6-foot-4 senior combo guard out of SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, narrowed down his top schools to ten on Thursday. The Burlington, North Carolina, native will focus on Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Illinois, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, Providence, Syracuse, and UConn. Before trimming his list, Gibson was receiving offers from Cincinnati, Georgia, Houston, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Wake Forest, and West Virginia.

Gibson has also scheduled five official visits with his remaining finalists: Louisville (September 4-6), UConn (September 11-13), Arkansas (September 21), LSU (September 25), and Baylor (October 9).

During his junior season, Gibson averaged 15 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 47% from the field, 43% from behind the three-point line, and 86% from the free-throw line. During the Grassroots season, he played for Team United on the Nike EYBL Circuit, where he raised his numbers to an average of nearly 16 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 45% from the field, 39% from behind the three-point line, and dropping his free-throw percentage to 73%.

In the 2025-2026 season, SPIRE Academy under first-year head coach Kevin Boyle finished with an 11-9 record and qualified for the Chipotle Nationals quarterfinals before having their season come to an end against AZ Compass Prep. It was also their first year playing on the Nike EYBL Scholastic circuit.

Before coming over to SPIRE Academy last summer, Gibson played under George Marshall at The Burlington School, where he averaged 18.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 55% from the field and 75% from the free-throw line.

Scouting Report on King Gibson: Gibson is a true combo guard who often at times can be found orchestrating his own shot or facilitating to his teammates on the offensive end. He can effectively finish at the front of the rim while absorbing contact or showcasing his mid-range game with the ability to change pace. On the defensive end, Gibson brings good size, length, and versatility, and he can guard multiple positions out on the perimeter. He is very disruptive when it comes to applying pressure on opposing ball-handlers and has a strong understanding of when to get into the passing lanes. Overall, his 6-foot-4 frame allows him to effectively switch into guarding bigger players, where he showcases his strength and discipline to challenge shots at the rim without fouling. He plays with a competitive edge and stays engaged on both ends of the floor at all times.
