Cayden Daughtry, A 6-foot senior point guard out of Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, has narrowed down his top schools to fourteen (14) on Wednesday. He will consider Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Providence, Tennessee, UConn, Vanderbilt, and Villanova. Before trimming his list, Daughtry was hearing from Arizona State, BYU, Cincinnati, Georgia, Illinois, Louisville, LSU, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Texas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Daughtry is coming off a strong summer where he played for the Florida Rebels on the Nike EYBL Circuit, and at the Peach Jam last month, he took home the Most Valuable Player award. He also led the United States to the Gold Medal at the FIBA U17 World Cup in Turkey earlier in the summer. During the Peach Jam title run, Daughtry averaged 32.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game.
He also led Calvary Christian Academy to the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 3A state championship last season. As a junior last season, Daughtry averaged 26.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 2.7 steals per game while shooting 55% from the field and 37% from the three-point line.
Daughtry also intends to take visits to seven schools, including Florida State (August 28-30), Tennessee (September 4-6), Iowa (September 11-13), UConn (September 19-21), Florida (September 25-27), Miami (October 16-18), and Arkansas (October 30-November 1).
Scouting Report on Cayden Daughtry: Daughtry is a point guard who dictates tempo, and his decision-making is sharp for his age. He affects the game with his scoring and consistently gets his teammates involved at a high rate. On the defensive end, he shows active hands and foot movement. Beyond his scoring, he is playing with more confidence as a lead ball-handler and has the ability to elevate his scoring on all three levels.
