The UHOOPS Exposure Camp put twenty quality players from the class of 2028 class on the floor Saturday. The camp setting provides a different perspective than a typical travel basketball weekend. We were able to see the skills up close and which players can make the simple plays in the drill and in the game. Here are six names that stood out.

Isaac Sowemimo – Harrison – 2028

Sowemimo has good size for a guard, and he uses it without getting stuck between moves. He moves his feet on defense and finishes plays gliding to the hoop. His release on his jumper is clean. He proved that he can be an all-around guard capable of playmaking for others or getting a bucket for himself.

Cameron Blackman – Lanier – 2028

Blackman was the OTR Circuit 16U regular-season MVP, and he backed up his reputation in this setting with a strong performance. He may have had the smoothest handle in the gym on Saturday morning. He pulls up in a tight space, hesitates, and then gets downhill. He is an expert with the left-hand finish. He is confident kissing the ball off the glass with the off-hand.

Mark Nomel – Grovetown – 2028

The Grovetown native has physical tools that allow him to have an impact on both ends of the floor. He drained jumpers in rhythm and handled as a lead guard at times. Nomel should not be pigeonholed as an offensive specialist. He used his length and athleticism to defend and make winning plays.

Braylen Bellamy – Burke County – 2028

Bellamy was the assist man at the camp. He delivered timely passes to teammates on the move. He often did it in traffic, seeing a gap where others would not. Do not hold his size against him. Bellamy packs a big desire for winning combined with a skill set that translates.

Ryan Hopgood – Jonesboro – 2028

Hopgood is one of the premier athletes to emerge from this camp, a 6-foot-8 forward who appears to be just beginning to scratch the surface of what he is capable of. He attacked the rim with the downhill drive and also showed footwork on the low block. In terms of projection, he will be a prospect who could flourish in the next 12 to 18 months.

Toby Strech – Johnson Ferry Christian – 2028

Strech earned a reputation as one of the best shooters in the state of Georgia after his fantastic summer with Atlanta Standard. Read about his July at Power 48 here. What we saw in July showed up again. He looks to have grown an inch or two and has polished up his shot preparation and release even more. He does not appear to be a kid who is content being where he is at. He looks to be polishing his craft heading into his junior year.
