OntheRadarHoops.com: Thanksgiving Showcase Preview – St. Francis vs. Douglas County – November 12, 2014

OntheRadarHoops.com will bring together eight of the top teams from the state of Georgia on the Saturday after Thanksgiving at St. Francis High School. This showcase setting for high school teams allows teams an early season test to see how they measure up before they get into regular season region play. It also gives basketball fans in the Atlanta Metro area an opportunity to see many of the top individual players in the state. Game Preview: Douglas County vs. St. Francis

The host school, St. Francis, enters this season as the favorite to repeat as State Champions in Class A this season. With their leading scorers from last year returning, the only change the Knights will see is a change on the sideline. Coach Cabral Huff took an assistant coaching job at Georgia Southern this year and is replaced by Drew Catlett.

Coach Catlett will have plenty to work with as he features one of the most dynamic back courts in the state. Shooting guard Malik Beasley enters his senior season with much confidence after ascension as one of the nation’s best this summer on the EYBL circut. Currently ranked No. 43 in the BCSElite 100, he also signed to play at Florida State next season. Joining him in the back court is one of the nation’s top guards in the class of 2016, Kobi Simmons.Currently ranked No. 20 in the BCSElite 60, he is a 5-star guard that is being recruited the nation’s premier college programs.

The front court for the Knights is equally talented as it features two players who have signed the LOI to play Division 1 basketball. Kaiser Gates is a sharp shooter 6-7 combo forward who is signed to play at Xavier next season. He is joined by big man Josh Coleman, who standing at 6-9 is signed to play at Coastal Carolina. Also keep an eye on James Banks, a class of 2016 post player who  picked up interest this summer while playing the Georgia Stars on the EYBL circuit.

Douglas County, coached by Hollis Bethea, features one of the fastest up and coming wings in the nation in Brandon Robinson a 6-5 junior. He has seen his recruiting take off in recent months including picking up an offer from Clemson. He is joined by senior 6-2 guard K’Jai Johnson who is a FAMU commit.

Coach Bethea also feature players such as class of 2015 post Deondre Glenn who is a 6-6 athlete who could be one of the sleeper post players in the region. Also watch for shooting specialist Corey Tilery, a 5-10 guard, who could make an impact in this game.
