NBPA Top 100 Camp Evaluation: Luke Maye (Cornelius, N.C.), Team United – 2015
In the one of the most high profile camp settings in the calendar year, Maye proved to be as effective as we had seen him in previous settings. The 6-foot-7 forward mixed skill with blue collar effort to be a stat line filler in Charlottesville. He shot the ball effectively from behind the arc. His smooth release gives him accuracy and consistency with his feet set. The well built four-player is far from a spot up player as pounded the boards for rebounds and second chance opportunities in the lane. Any questions that may have been posed about Maye’s effectiveness against top notch competition were immediately erased during this camp. Maye should be able to step into a number of programs and contribute because of his diverse skill set.
College programs have already pursued Maye’s talents at this point as College of Charleston, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Davidson, Rhode Island and St. Jospeh’s have already offered. Recently he also took an unofficial visit to North Carolina and Virginia. However, look for interest to heat up after a summer on the circuit. He will be with OntheRadarHoops.com at the Elite 32 as he plays for Team United.
