#OTRHoopsReport: Texas Tech lands a commitment from Khavon Moore – Feb, 26, 2018

4-Star wing Khavon Moore of Westside (GA) has committed to Texas Tech

Atlanta, Ga – Texas Tech Head Coach Chris Beard has come to Lubbock, Texas and in only his second season he has pumped life back into the Red Raiders program.  In his first year Beard managed to lead Tech to 18 wins, while this season he has the Texas Tech sitting atop the Big 12 Conference with a record of 22-7, ranked as the #12 team in the country according to todays AP Poll.  To keep the current success going the Red Raider staff must continue to bring in talented freshman and today the recruiting paid off as they received a commitment from one of the country’s top available seniors in Georgia’s Khavon Moore.

The 6-foot-8 Moore is a versatile player that Beard will use in a facet of different ways.  At his size he separates himself with his unique ball handling skills and the ability to make plays for others.  Not a full time point guard, but Moore is more than capable of jump starting an offense as well as being on the finishing end of a well-executed play.  Not overly athletic, but that part of his game along with his explosiveness should improve when he gets introduced to the weight room.  A very underrated rebounder, and a good help side shot blocker Moore is a top 50 prospect that hasn’t even scratched the surface yet.

After an up and down summer in which Moore finished strong with good showings at tournaments in Atlanta and Las Vegas, his school list read with the likes of Alabama, Texas Tech, Marquette, Texas A&M, UGA, Florida, and Oklahoma.  You have to give a ton of credit to Texas Tech assistant coach and South Georgia native Al Pinkins for staying the course and keeping a strong recruiting presence against some heavy hitters.  The Red Raiders land they’re first Top 50 recruit in the Chris Beard era.  Moore will join Missouri transfer CJ Roberts and JUCO guard Deshawn Corpew as apart of the 2018 class.
