Relentless Hoops Summer League – Standouts

MARIETTA, GA – Trent Markwith and the folks at Relentless Hoops put on their Summer League once again last week, and it was a packed lineup of teams over 3 days.

I caught some Tuesday action from Life University, here were some guys who stood out:

Anthony Alston | G | 2024 | Grayson

With Gicarri Harris absent and CJ Hyland in street clothes this was still a formidable version of a Grayson team that is sure to be nationally ranked come the fall, Alston whether with Harris and Hyland or without or playing alongside 6th man Laz Mason gives them deadeye deep shooting and superbly smart play from the 2, should the Rams go the 7A distance in Macon next March I could see Alston being huge for them in closing it out.

Sha’Yah Goba | F | 2024 | Mt Vernon

Yet another mention for Goba who has been turning heads with his play for GA Canes this spring as well, even with some significant turnover for the Mustangs from last year’s 23-win bunch this is still a favorite in A-D1 with the returning pieces and transfer KJ Garris offsetting backcourt graduations, much of that favorite status will now fall on a highly improved and more confident Goba who’s gotten stronger and is getting at the rim as a finisher and rebounder with a ton of assertiveness.

Tomy Smith | G | 2026 | Mount Pisgah

Pisgah welcomes new coach Jay Slone from OTP and TSF into the fold and the fine tactician inherits an interesting roster if he can keep all the pieces in the building, critical 2024’s Tyson Pittman and Max Tucker were both absent at RH so Smith had a chance to be assertive offensively and showed some interesting possibilities as a sophomore to be, springy athlete can handle it some and definitely has no fear off the bounce.

Andrew LaVigne | G | 2024 | South Paulding

Part of a wildly underrated backcourt with fellow 2024 David Williams and playing on a Spartans team that to me has a chance to be a real sleeper in 6A, a deep run in the playoffs will be sparked by LaVigne who has built a fine spring with GA Stunners and kept it going at RH, love how he settles into the mid-range with a sweet touch while always being a threat to go on a run from 3-land as well, a prospect on the rise.

Donte Golden Jr | G | 2024 | Central Gwinnett

CGHS is looking to make a big jump from last season with the likes of returnees Tim Smith Jr, Malik Rideout and Caden Goines heading the charge while also welcoming in 6-9 transfer Alpha Barry, but you can’t sleep on the obvious contributions they’ve already gotten from Mountain View transfer Golden at both ends of the floor, he’s taken some of the ballhandling burden off 2026 riser Rideout and is a speedy penetrator and lockdown on-ball defender, his recent June play garnered him his first offer from Voorhees University.
