Developing for What is Next
The Warner Robins All-Stars began in 2010 when Antwan Brooks and Antonio Williams decided to help young men in the area prepare for middle school basketball. More than 15 years later, the program has helped dozens of kids to the collegiate level. They are also regularly one of the most competitive programs at On the Radar Hoops events year in and out.
When asked about the purpose of the program, coach Brooks said, “We want to help all kids in our program get ready for their next level. That comes in all phases of basketball, which is mentally, physically, and academically.”
Director of video media for On the Radar Hoops, Kris Watkins, highlights what sets this program apart from others. “There is consistency in the players they have on their rosters from year to year. They develop players from middle school up through high school, which is a rarity in travel basketball.”
Their motto of DAWG can be seen in action every year. The coaching staff forms lasting relationships with the players and their families. And that investment pays off annually.

Next Up Mentality
Coach Brooks has not shied away from competition, getting his guys battle-tested at On the Radar events. This year’s 17U group has competed on the 17U circuit for the past three seasons—playing up in the previous two years when they were younger. While many teams take a star-driven approach during the travel season, this club brings a balanced attack on both ends of the floor.
Watkins made this observation after watching countless hours of the Warner Robins crew for the past few summers, “They are consistently well coached and disciplined in their style of play. They have a next man up mentality, which encourages more than just one person to take the offensive lead.”
Even with a team approach, that balance did not come at the expense of individual attention. Houston County guard Malik Gillespie became a star on the circuit. He was named as First-Team All-Circuit and a finalist for OTR Circuit MVP.
College coaches became familiar with Gillespie’s name and game. He earned offers from Georgia State, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Presbyterian College, and Stony Brook before eventually choosing Morehead State.
Chase Dupree, who remains one of the state’s top unsigned seniors, joined Gillespie with First-Team OTR-Circuit honors. While class of 2028 guard Karon Plummer earned Third Team honors on the OTR Circuit.

The future is bright for the next wave of young men from Warner Robins. Last year’s 16U group earned attention from the OTR media team. Watkins had this to say in anticipation of this year, “They have a talented 16U group that is looking to hit the ground running this season.”
Coach Brooks explained his outlook for this season like this, “We are excited about the growth of the OTR Circuit. We have the next group of young men who are starting their journey toward college recruitment. It is a blessing to be a part of the OTR Family. Our athletes enjoy the atmosphere of OTR events and our parents love attending the games.”
