JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The 2026 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) boys’ and girls’ basketball state championships resumed this week, with the larger classifications taking the floor. Here is who stood out on Day 7:

Nate Accius - St. Thomas Aquinas - 2027

Accius did a great job at displaying smooth body control when patrolling the paint, as well as stretching the floor, where he knocked down comfortable mid-range jumpers, as well as expanding his offensive game, where he knocked down a few 3-pointers off the catch. His ability to draw contact and get to the free-throw line on numerous occasions stood out as well. The 6-foot-5 junior wing finished with a game-high 26 points in the semifinal win over Sickles.

Dewayne Dixon - Evans (Orlando) - 2026

The 6-foot-9 senior power forward used his length and his lateral quickness when it came to challenging shots at the rim on the defensive end. His ability to guard multiple positions, whether it was out on the perimeter or towards the basket, is what stood out to me. On the offensive end, his fluidity and his soft touch around the rim have continued to improve as the season went on. With some added muscle to his frame, Dixon could be a huge threat as a late bloomer on the recruitment trail.

Anthony Gatlin - Suncoast - 2026

Gatlin is a two-way prospect with a ton of potential to be a fit at the next level. He can score in transition, in the half-court, and from the catch. He was a well-rounded finisher when it came to playing above the rim on the offensive end, as well as getting to his spots in the mid-range. Defensively, he showed his versatility, where he guarded multiple positions and utilized his length to crash the boards. While he has received interest from several JUCO schools, I can expect Gatlin to receive interest from D2-D3 schools before the year is over.

Jakai Hardy - Evans (Orlando) - 2028

Hardy is a tough-nosed guard who can finish on the offensive end in a variety of ways. He also applied constant pressure in the backcourt where he guarded all 94-feet with his quickness, physicality, and athleticism. He is also a solid rebounder for his size, as he made efforts to crash the glass with any of them. His efforts in the passing lanes were what stood out in this matchup, picking up a couple of steals, which led to transition scores on the opposite end.

Jamarey Harris - Suncoast - 2026

Harris was a true floor general from the point guard position in the wire-to-wire win over Atlantic in the 4A title game. He made strong reads to his teammates on the move, dishing out a game-high six assists to go along with his 18 points. His strength and physicality also made a huge presence down the stretch, where he muscled his way to the front of the rim, knocking down tough shots throughout the game. Defensively, he was a menace when guarding the ball as well as applying consistent pressure in the passing lanes. Harris has some potential to be a real deal prospect at the next level, whether it’s following a post-grad year or becoming a late bloomer on the recruiting trail.

Johnas Maurice - Lake Howell - 2028

The 6-foot-2 sophomore point guard made his presence felt on the biggest stage, where he showed his versatile skill set as well as his relentless motor. His shot-making, as well as creating for his teammates, is what stood out in the 6A semifinal against Evans. He was patient when it came to finding open teammates in the half-court offense and didn’t get rattled when opposing defenses blitzed him. On the defensive end, he was versatile when it came to guarding the ball as well as jumping the passing lanes. Maurice is a player worth keeping an eye on as his game continues to mature as the spring season approaches.

Kadir Rackley - Evans (Orlando) - 2026

Rackley is a tone setter who makes plays happen with his energy on both ends of the floor. On offense, he was getting to his spots, whether it was as the primary ball-handler or his movement off the ball. His size and speed when it came to attacking the rim were efficient in the 6A semifinal win over Lake Howell. He was unafraid when it came to absorbing contact, where he got to the free-throw line on several occasions. On defense, he was electric with his combination of speed, athleticism, and elite footwork. While Rackley is a senior with a little bit of recruitment thus far, I can expect coaches to look at him with his ability to contribute on both ends of the floor.

Clarence Westbrook Jr - St. Thomas Aquinas - 2027

Westbrook delivered a notable performance in the blowout win over Sickles, where he ran the point guard position at a high level. He consistently got his teammates involved as well as getting his scoring touch, whether it was in the paint or expanding his game to being a perimeter shooting threat. His quickness and decision-making were in full effect as he valued every possession on the offensive end, where he finished the game with no turnovers. On the defensive end, he maintained his ground as well as guarding the opposition’s primary shooter by making him uncomfortable off the catch. He also was effective in the passing lanes, forcing turnovers, and getting transition buckets on the offensive end. He’s consistently established himself into one of the top two-way guards in the state for the 2027 class.
