OTR Hoops: 2029 Watch List from Florida

We have passed the midway point of the 2025-2026 high school basketball season across the state of Florida. Here are some prospects on the freshman watch list trending upwards in this year’s class.

Zaire Colbert - The Rock School - 2029: Colbert has elite speed when it comes to playing in the open court, where he can find his teammates on the move as well as get to his spots, finishing at a high rate. He can make defenders pay off the catch with his smooth release as he has grown more confident in scoring over bigger defenders. On the defensive end, Colbert has an advanced and versatile skillset where he can guard multiple positions as well as utilize his quickness in the passing lanes. With more experience at the varsity level, Colbert could be a two-way force for years to come.

Rylan Maples - Victory Rock Prep - 2029: Maples is an elite sharpshooter and has a high IQ for his age on the offensive end. He can score on all three levels at a respectable percentage as well as display a quick release off the catch. He is dangerous on the defensive end as well, where he can guard positions 1 through 3 using his length and athleticism to his advantage. Maples is already receiving interest from several Division-1 schools, such as Arkansas State, Kennesaw State, Stetson, and several others. Look for him to take a huge leap in his recruitment as it is still in its early stages.

Corban Reed - Nease - 2029: The 6-foot-4 freshman guard has a unique blend of size, length, and athleticism, which has made an immediate impact running the lead guard position. On the offensive end, he is dangerous, where he can make defenders pay off the bounce as well as the catch from the perimeter and at the rim. His frame makes him a tough matchup for opponents as he can make an impact in a variety of ways. On the defensive end, Reed is a mismatch for most opposing guards as his speed and elite footwork allow him to be effective on and off the ball at a high level. With Reed running the point guard position, look for Nease to be a threat in Class 6A for the next few years alongside 6-foot-6 sophomore guard Camden Cooper.

Miles Simpson - The Villages Charter - 2029: Simpson is a two-way force on both ends of the floor, where he can score on all three levels on the offensive end as well as play with a ton of versatility on the defensive end. During the first half of the season, Simpson was playing with full confidence on the offensive end, where he finished at the rim as well as displaying a strong perimeter game. He is already hearing from several Division-1 schools where he currently holds offers from Austin Peay, Missouri, Saint Louis, and Southeast Missouri State.

Morgan Stanley - Grandview Prep - 2029: Stanley has a combination skillset, whether it’s his elite motor, which can impact the game in a variety of ways on both ends of the floor. On the offensive end, he has a smooth jumper where he can score from 15 feet and inside, as well as build a consistent perimeter shot. On the defensive end, his length and athleticism are effective on the glass, as well as showing elite footwork out on the perimeter. With consistent development and growth over the next few seasons, Stanley could be a vital two-way playmaker.

Michael Williams - Wiregrass Ranch - 2029: Williams is growing into his frame, where his high release on his shot has improved since the beginning of the season, as he is becoming more confident and finishing around the rim. His versatility also speaks high volumes, where he can guard multiple positions, whether it is out on the perimeter or in the interior. As he continues to develop into becoming a three-level scoring threat, Williams could factor in as one of the top two-way wings not just in the area but in the state.
