The Birmingham Classic is an annual stop for the OTR team to identify key prospects in the Southeast. Ranging from accomplished upperclassmen to rising freshmen, this stop always provides a new list of players to track heading into the NCAA live periods. Here is this year’s list of emerging prospects from last weekend’s event.
Emerging Names

Tre Embry – Warner Robins All-Stars OTR 15U – 2029
Embry hopped into our attention in the first game of the tournament. He scored 30 points in the All-Stars win over OTM. The left-handed point guard already has accolades from the high school season. He was named an all-region performer with Veterans High School. The only knock on Embry’s game at the moment is his lack of size. However, he makes up for it with expert ball handling and crafty body control in traffic. He has a nose for scoring and is poised to be one of the top 15U prospects on the OTR Circuit this season.
Tristan Warren – Warner Robins All-Stars OTR 17U – 2027
Warren hopped out of the car and dropped 21 points in his first game of the day. He is a 6-foot guard that plays primarily on the wing for coach Brooks’ squad. When he is in the groove, he thrives as a rhythm shooter who will keep defenders off guard with timely attacks into the lane. The All-Stars look to have a formidable backcourt with the trio of Warren, JuJu Williams, and Kam Thomas.
Jarrell Johnson – R4W – 2027
We walked away impressed with Johnson’s game after watching him score 24 points in a matchup with BTO Family. His height was unlisted during the event, but we can estimate that he measures around 6-foot-3. His long arms, which give him an ideal wingspan, allow him to play bigger than he is. He shoots it well from distance and has some spring to snag rebounds in the lane. The Jasper High School product is a player to make note of and track his progress this spring and summer.

Chase Paterson – Fusion Academy – 2028
Paterson earned recognition Sunday morning with his performance at Spain Park High School. The Lambert High School sophomore has a profile similar to his high-school teammate Will Dopfer. He is a 6-foot-4 combo forward with inside-out skill. Dopfer, a Longwood University signee, probably has more bounce and athleticism. However, Paterson could become more polished as a ball handler and shot maker. We have Paterson on our watchlist, and we will be interested to see if he grows both physically and fundamentally.

Trent Witte – Atlanta Standard OTR 17U – 2027
Witte has one of those releases that instantly alerts all who are watching that he is an expert shooter. The stats back up that intuition. He ranked fifth in the state of Georgia in 3-pointers made. We watched him knock down a pair of threes in the second half of Standard’s win over the Warner Robins All-Stars. His ability to work the arc and space the floor is a skill that translates to all teams across levels.
Bear Bridges – Atlanta Standard OTR 15U – 2029
Atlanta Standard earned plenty of buzz last weekend with success on the scoreboard and standout performers. Bridges earns a spot in this recap after his play in a Sunday morning win. He is a combo guard who can attack the gaps in the defense off the dribble or play within the flow of the offense as a floor spacer. The depth of this squad will make them a tough matchup for all teams on the 15U OTR Circuit. Bridges is a part of the fabric that holds it all together.
Marquette Allen – GT Stars – 2029
Allen was one of the top new names that we were introduced to on Saturday evening. The freshman guard who measures north of 6-feet tall boasts athleticism and skill. He scored 19 points in a win for his team. The lasting takeaway from his game was his smooth stroke from the 3-point arc. He connected on four 3-pointers, while also flashing some exciting athleticism in the lane. He is a name to target for years to come in Alabama.
