On the Radar officially tipped off the travel season with its annual 'The Opening' tournament. This tournament featured teams from 15U-17U from across the southeast. This will be a 3 part series.

Branden Harrison | 2029 | Norcross Heat: Branden Harrison is a young prospect with the tools and high ceiling to be a name to track over the next few years. He led his team with 21 points, scoring from multiple spots around the floor. With a high motor and a long wingspan, Harrison impacts the game on both ends of the court.

Hampton Hill | 2027 | Georgia Legacy: Hampton Hill was a name evaluators kept circling all weekend. In the game I watched, Hill poured in 29 points in a win while showcasing his versatility as the lead guard. When he wasn’t scoring, he was creating opportunities for others by getting open looks for teammates behind the arc and making plays that opened opportunities for bigs inside. Hill is a strong utility guard worth checking out.

Jaylen Ivy | 2027 | TWU Elite: Jaylen Ivy is a patient, high-IQ guard who consistently gets to his spots whether to create his own look, make a play, or drop dimes to his bigs for easy finishes inside. He was strong playing off two feet at the mid-range and showed crafty finishes at the basket. A high-percentage shooter, Ivy proved difficult to contain.

Steffan Jacques | 2028 | Smash Pro: At 6’5”, Steffan Jacques showed true inside-out ability. He knocked down catch-and-shoot threes at a high clip, and he also put the ball on the floor; getting to the rim and finishing through contact. A prospect who continues to make strides each year, Jacques looks poised for a strong travel season.

Will LaBarbera | 2028 | Sewer South: LaBarbera gave Sewer South a lift with his scrappy play and timely scoring. He ran the floor hard, going rim-to-rim for easy looks, and showed a strong feel for spacing by finding gaps in the defense to make himself available. A tough, high-effort prospect, LaBarera consistently turns energy plays into production.

Bior Mayen | 2028 | Smash Pro: Bior Mayen was a force to reckon with this weekend. A long, wiry guard, he scores at a high level by knocking down shots from deep and finishing at the rim. Mayen also disrupts opponents by staying active in passing lanes and anticipating reads. He came away with several steals and converted on the other end for some electric plays finishing well above the rim.

Maki Mitchell | 2027 | Only1Elite: The effort Maki Mitchell brings each game is tough to match. A hard-nosed guard, he has no hesitation sacrificing his body for his team and plays all-out on both ends of the floor. He routinely turns that energy into production, finishing at the basket through contact and traffic. Mitchell also shows a strong feel for angles, reading what the defender gives him and converting several difficult finishes. Tough, gritty player.

Khalil Prather | 2027 | NGU: Khalil Prather is a prospect who caught evaluators’ attention over the weekend. A consistent standout, he continues to make noticeable progress each year. Prather plays bigger than advertised, using his bounce and high-IQ playmaking to impact possessions. He keeps his foot on the gas by relentlessly attacking defenders and finishing through contact on tough plays.
