#OTRHoopsReport: Ashton Hagans is no longer committed to Georgia – Feb 27, 2017
5-Star Ashton Hagans has decided to re-open his recruitment.
Atlanta, Ga – In December of last year 5 star point guard Ashton Hagans (Newton HS) decided to end his recruitment as he decided to stay in state by announcing that he would play at the University Of Georgia. His commitment marked the biggest recruit that Georgia Head Coach Mark Fox has been able to land, as Hagans checks in rated in the top 10 of the 2019 class nationally. A couple of months later as Hagans prepares to lead his Newton High team to an Elite 8 appearance in the Georgia State Playoffs he announced that he has made the decision to reopen his recruitment.
The reason for his decision seems to be based on the recent struggles that Georgia has had this season as they find themselves sitting at 7-9 in the SEC with rumors swirling around if Coach Fox will be back or not next year. The Hagans camp have been quoted as saying that UGA is still at the top of his list, but they would all like to see wait and see what happens with the coaching situation. There is no doubt that the top schools around the country are already in hot pursuit of this pass first point guard that can also control the game on the defensive end. We all will have to see how the Georgia Bulldog’s current season plays out before we can get an answer as to if Hagans will remain an in-state recruit or not.
