Akingbola Commits to the Tigers in Auburn

Auburn has gotten off to an incredible start this season and that momentum carried over off the court on Thursday, as 2019 forward Babatunde Akingbola verbally committed to Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers.

Akingbola has a frame that screams college production. He has long arms and bouncy legs, which often leads him to dunking every touch in the paint. Defensively he blocks a lot of shots in the paint while also have the athleticism to defend away from the bucket.

In His Words

“Auburn believed in me when very few did, they have been recruiting me sine 9th grade and never wavered. The coaching staff is sincere and I love the way they coach, I’ve also been able to see the great job they’ve done with other players from Georgia and the way they developed players who play my position.”

Evaluation

Here is what Brandon Clay, Chairman of the Naismith Award Selection Committee, had to say about Stretch at the City of Palms Classic last December.

Akingbola is a tremoundous rebounder around the basket. He’s active, not afraid of contact and looking to swat anything coming inside. “Stretch” will run the floor and is capable of finishing in the lane with dunks in traffic.
