Jylan Washington is a player who showed promise this weekend in Murfreesboro.
Murfreesboro, Tenn. – Some of the best players around the state of Tennessee and surrounding states squared off against one another this weekend at the CoachHemi.com Showcase. A number of the top available players and multiple up and coming underclassmen worked in skill stations before competing in game play.
Making a statement
Unsigned senior guard Cedric McGinnis of Birmingham, Ala. played like a man on a mission Saturday afternoon. The 5-foot-10 guard pushes the ball well in transition where he is able to direct traffic and find teammates for the easy basket. McGinnis showed the ability to consistently shoot the three-pointer and knock down the mid-range jumper. McGinnis is a physical and tough defender who forced turnovers throughout the afternoon.
On the Radar
There were those at CoachHemi.com Showcase like Jylan Washington of Smyra, Tenn. who had not attracted the attention of too many college programs as of yet. However, if he continues to perform as he did this past weekend, many of college coaches should start calling. The 6-7 wiry forward showcased the ability to step away from the basket and knock down shots consistently. Washington causes problems on the defense end of the floor with his length around the basket where he can block and alter shots. Alongside Washington was Spencer Garner of Huntsville, Ala. who built upon his outstanding play from the high school season with a solid showing this weekend. Case Bouldin of Brentwood, Tenn. was automatic from behind the arc, the rising junior will be a player to keep an eye on over the summer.
