With the early signing period coming to an end, we break down some of the top available guards in the state of Georgia.
On the Rise
After a short stint in Florida at Eleve8 Sports Institution, Reggie Reid is back at Harlem High School in Augusta. Reid is a strong and tough point guard who excels at pushing the ball down the court, penetrating and getting to the basket to finish above the rim or through contact. The 5-foot-11 guard caught the attention of many programs around the county this summer with his play with the Southern Kings.
Tobias Howard of Suwanee, Ga., recently transferred to IMG Academy in Florida. Howard is a guard who can make plays for himself and others. He can drive to score or dish and shows a good ability to read the defense and make decisions while in attack mode.
Ty Cockfield of Gainesville, Ga., stock continues to rise after a good showing this summer and fall. He is a quick point guard that uses his speed to get into the paint or create separation for his jump shot. He plays with extreme confidence and is a fearless defender who forces turnovers due to his hustle and on the ball pressure.
During the Spring Evaluation Period at the Sweet 16 Tournament, South Georgia lead guard Tylik Evans was one of the most talked about players in attendance. Evans is a play making guard who combines a dangerous three-point shot with quickness to get anywhere he wants on the court.
Westlake High School guard Jarred Heard has recently picked up an offer from Norfolk State. Heard is a primary handler who has a clean stroke from behind the arc and has the capability to run the offense and direct traffic
