Atlanta based organization Heat Check has been one of the hottest travel programs in the Southeast over the past few years. The team has always been known for their guard play. This year is no different as Heat Check features some of the top rising juniors in the state of Georgia.
Kai Lambert, (Lawrenceville, Ga)-Collins Hill HS-2016
Lambert has improved his all around game over the past year. He showcased an improved handle and has legitimately become a lead guard. In previous years, Lambert was known for his ability to shoot the lights out from deep, now he can attack the basket creating shots for himself as well as teammates. This 6-foot guard was effective shooting the ball off the catch and dribble over the weekend. He’ll be a player to keep an eye on this summer.
Christian Turner, (Fayetteville, Ga)-Sandy Creek HS-2016
He’s a true point guard who is small but possesses great court awareness and savvy. He is a master at penetrating and dishing. He sees the court with a point guard mentality and he showcases his ability to attack the defense and find teammates for the easy basket.
Garrett Covington, (Lilburn, Ga)-Greater Atlanta Christian HS-2016
Covington exploded onto the scene this past season for his high school team as he had several big games late in the season to help Greater Atlanta Christian go to a perfect season at 34-0. This 6-3 guard has the ability to stretch the floor with his shot making abilities.
Jordan Lyons, (Peachtree City, Ga)-McIntosh HS-2016
This 6-foot combo guard pushes the ball in transition and he can get to the rim before some defenders will even make it to the half-line. In the half court set he attacks the basket and will finish through contact without any problem. Lyons has a nice touch and body control. He can kick to open teammates with either hand while making a difficult pass look easy.
