Basketball is simple. Outscore your opponent and you win the game. This article is dedicated to the best scoring threats from The Florida Crown.
Mateyo Johnson - 2030 - Southeast Elite
Johnson has one of the most advanced scoring repertoires of any eighth grader in the building. He created shots from himself like he’s been doing it for years. He has the crossovers, step backs, and head fakes to shed defenders. He’s willing to shoot the ball with a sliver of space and somehow the shot rarely looks forced. If his scoring game stays on track, analytics fans will love his three or layup style of play. He stands somewhere between 6-foot-1 and 6-foot-3 and it gives a decent cushion between the guards defending him.
Miles Moten - 2030 - Florida Rebels
The cousin of 4-star 2027 standout Oneal Delancy has clearly picked up a few things from his older family members. Moten is an efficient scorer who uses his 6-foot-4 frame to score over defenders. In the games I watched he did most of his damage inside paint chipping in floaters with soft touch. Moten creates offense for himself in isolation.
Lucca Santos - 2032 - Kissimmee All Stars
Santos kept defenders on their heels all game. He consistently put pressure on the person in front of him with his downhill style. Santos can hit shots at all levels and already has three-point range beyond the high school arc. You can give him the ball anywhere on the left side of the court and he can get to a spot he’s comfortable shooting from. Santos doesn’t have a crazy handle but he knows how to attack angles to create space.
Noah Sharpe - 2032 - Tre Mann Elite
The younger brother of Houston’s Emmanuel Sharpe is no stranger to getting a bucket. He’s a fearless scorer who shot the ball at a high volume this weekend. Most of those shots were within the flow of the game and smart shots. He isn’t a blow by you athlete right now but consistently got to the rim as he attacked angles on drives. Sharpe can score from anywhere on the court but right now he’s most prolific when getting to the paint or shooting in rhythm.
DJ Rivers - 2032 - Southeast Elite
Rivers uses his size advantage with every shot he takes in the paint. Rivers is a big guard who plays through contact and understands the principle of keeping the ball high. He made shots deep in the paint while showcasing touch on fadeaway and turnaround jumpers. He welcomes physicality when scoring around the basket. He’s not afraid to shoot from distance either but favors playing closer to the rim. He’s a good offensive rebounder for his age and it leads to putbacks or him finding the open teammates. Rivers has the making of a good slasher.
