Ben Uhde Chooses Hope
On Sunday evening senior wing, Ben Uhde, announced his commitment to Hope College in Holland, Michigan. The Flying Dutchmen are a D-III school that competes in the MIAA Conference. Head Coach Greg Mitchell enters his 11th season this year. During Mitchell’s tenure they amassed a 199-96 record with four conference championships and six NCAA Division III tournament appearances.
Uhde is a 6-foot-4 wing who earned a reputation as one of the best shooters on the Circuit this spring while playing with Georgia Legacy. Here is what OTR evaluator, Jen Brazelton (@Proven_Prospect) had to write following a May outing:
2026 G Ben Uhde has stamped his name as one of the best shooters on this year’s OTR Circuit. He had a career high eight 3-pointers, going for 29 points in one of the best displays of shooting I’ve seen this year. Uhde is confident and finds ways to score despite being tracked closely by opposing defenses. He has a versatile game, staying engaged on both ends and makes the game look effortless with his abilities.
See Uhde’s highlights from the spring via Coach Watkins Athletics:
Uhde earned respect from all who worked with him over the years. Coach Dyron Gates from Georgia Legacy had this to say about his character and work ethic:
On Uhde’s character and work ethic:
“Ben is a great kid from a great family! He is one of the hardest workers and best shooters that we have had in the program. He would come to practice an hour and a half early to get shots up.”
On his overall game:
“His shooting would often overshadow his rebounding and playmaking. I think that will help him going into year one at Hope. He can be more than just a shooter. That will allow him to adjust well in his role at the next level.”
On his leadership:
“He gives 110% every time he hits the floor and is a great teammate. Ben will keep working and will continue to get better.”
The praise continued from Coach Eli Mayberry of Georgia Legacy. He reiterated Uhde’s character, which translates to on-court production.
“He is a high character player who comes from a great family! I cannot express enough how high his motor and work ethic are.”
Mayberry also predicts big things from Uhde at Hope College:
“He is a major competitor which will translate well at the next level. He can score at all three levels, and he works his tail off on defense. With that alone he will be a major impact player at the next level.”
Uhde also fielded offers from Berry College (GA), Point University (NC), Simpson College (IA), Dean College (MA), Piedmont University (GA), Sewanee (TN), and Oglethorpe University (GA).
Scruitsky Picks Hampden-Sydney College
Aidan Scruitsky of Providence Day School and PSB Elite gave his verbal commitment to Hampden-Sydney College this week. This makes the third PSB Elite prospect to commit to Coach Caleb Kimbrough and the D-III school in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia. Previous commitments include Mack Walters and Nolan Ericson. PSB Elite alum, Shane Fernald, is already on the roster for the Tigers.
Scruisky is a 6-foot-4 wing with a smooth polish to his game. Here is what PSB Elite director Chris Goodrum had to say about the Charlotte, North Carolina, native’s game:
“He is a dynamic three-level scorer with a polished shot-making arsenal. He brings sneaky athleticism and a competitive edge to the floor. He creates off the dribble, gets downhill, and finishes above the rim. He does this with a controlled presence on both ends of the floor.”
Hampden-Sydney sent its staff to an OTR event the first weekend in July to watch Scruitsky compete.
