OTR Circuit: NGU Featured Program

Since forming in March 2019, NGU has carved out a role in the Georgia grassroots scene by focusing on players who often fly under the radar. Coach Julien Nyemeck started the program to give underrated talented athletes a legit platform and the chance to compete against strong competition.

Program at a Glance

Name: NGU
Home Base: Dallas, Georgia
Coach: Julien Nyemeck
Motto: Leave A Statement

Alumni:

Keanu Patrick – Missouri Valley College
Trenton Cothran – Reinhardt University
Kervens Yachinthe – Converse University
Paul Alphonse – Paine College
Leo Etah – Emory Oxford

A Platform for the Underrated

In a state full of talent, there are good players who do not always get the looks they deserve. Nyemeck saw that gap and decided to fill it. He tells On the Radar Hoops the reason for starting NGU was straightforward: "To give underrated talented athletes a platform & opportunity to showcase their abilities on a competitive platform."

The program keeps that focus tight. Nyemeck says the main goal is "to tap into more of the underrated parts of Georgia to put these athletes in a space where they can be seen." It's about finding kids in less spotlighted areas, getting them games against better teams, and letting their play do the talking.

On-Court Progress

NGU has already sent several players to college. Keanu Patrick is at Missouri Valley College, where the 6-8 forward has been part of the rotation. Trenton Cothran signed with Reinhardt University after standing out at Armuchee High School. Others like Kervens Yachinthe (Converse University), Paul Alphonse (Paine College), and Leo Etah (Emory Oxford) have also moved on to the next level.

This list shows the program getting results for kids who started outside the main recruiting circles.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Nyemeck talks about what has him excited for this spring: "Showcasing the underrated talented athletes in a competitive environment." The program wants to keep building on that mission, putting more players in front of college eyes through competitive games.

Competing on the OTR Circuit has helped make that happen. Nyemeck says it "gives us something exciting to look forward to during the spring we know we’ll get to be matched up against some high-level competition and overall makes each player better playing consecutive games with good bump." The setup pushes everyone to raise their level.
