PLAYERS FEATURED
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The 2026 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) boys’ and girls’ basketball state championships resumed this week, with the smaller classifications taking the floor. Here is who stood out on Day 2:
Jordan Bender - Northside Christian - 2026
The 6-foot-7 senior forward got off to a scorching start, where he was using his physicality to get to the blocks and finishing at the rim efficiently. His size provided an early spark, where he scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half. He impacted the game on the defensive end as well, where he was guarding multiple positions with his length and was very effective as a rim protector. Major upside for the unsigned senior as he should have many schools calling his name, as he can be a two-way player at the next level.
Jordan Corbitt - Miami Country Day - 2027
Corbitt used his strength and physical presence, where he knocked down tough shots on the interior off the catch as well as the bounce. He was also efficient when it came to knocking down shots from the perimeter in the semifinal win over Santa Fe Catholic. The 6-foot-6 junior forward finished with a game-high 19 points, on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, and 2-of-3 from behind the arc. Defensively, he made havoc with his length and limited the opposition from getting second-chance scoring opportunities.
Luke Mayberry - Providence School - 2026
Mayberry took total control of the offense in the semifinal win over Northside Christian, where he brought his strong feel and understanding of the game. Offensively, he did a great job at making strong cuts to the basket and got to his spots shooting from the perimeter as well. Mayberry led all scorers with 14 points on an efficient 4-of-6 shooting from the field and did a great job at getting to the free-throw line as well, knocking down five of six from the charity stripe. Defensively, Mayberry used his strength and determination, where he guarded multiple positions, and forcing his way through screens didn’t faze him. The Navy commit has a strong chance to make an immediate impact at the next level.
Miguel Orbe - Miami Country Day - 2027
Orbe is the real deal, and he continues to show why he’s nationally ranked among the 2027 class. The 6-foot-3 junior point guard didn’t have the best scoring display in the semifinal win over Santa Fe Catholic, but his decision-making continues to prove why he is an elite point guard. Offensively, he shone as a driver and facilitator, where he can get to his spots as well as make strong, crisp passes on the move to his teammates. On the defensive end, he was strong when guarding the ball as well as showing his active hands in the passing gaps. Orbe has a high ceiling that continues to climb as the junior looks to lead his team to their first-ever state championship.
Will Stewart - Providence School - 2028
Stewart has established himself as a key piece for the Stallions this season on a loaded roster. His length and athleticism made him a matchup nightmare on the offensive end, where he was finishing above the rim off the catch as well as the bounce. He has added muscle to his frame, where he can play multiple positions on the offensive end, as he did most of his impactful playing off the ball. On the defensive end, he was impactful with his strong nose for protecting the rim, where he recorded two blocks. Stewart’s two-way playmaking could open some eyes for an early start at his recruitment this summer.
