The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) boys’ basketball state championships officially get underway this week with the smaller classifications taking the stage at UNF Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. Here is a preview of the 2A semifinals that are scheduled to take place on Friday:

Santa Fe Catholic vs. Miami Country Day- Friday, March 6 at 3:00 P.m.

The Santa Fe Catholic Hawks (23-7) return to the Final Four for the second consecutive year after not making an appearance for 54 years before their appearance in 2025. The Hawks come into the semifinal matchup against Miami Country Day on a 5-game winning streak, dating back to January 31, when they lost to Windermere at the Mosaic Stinger Shootout. The Hawks have picked up huge contributions this season from 5-foot-10 senior point guard Toby Lane, who is averaging a career-high 16.5 points per game this season. Also keep an eye on 6-foot junior guard Urijah Newkirk and 6-foot-5 junior small forward Shannon McArthur.

The Miami Country Day Spartans (23-7) make their first trip to the Final Four since 2021, when they lost to the eventual Class 3A champion Calvary Christian Academy Eagles. The Spartans come into the semifinal matchup against Santa Fe Catholic on a three-game winning streak after reaching the regional playoffs as a district runner-up. The Spartans have been led this season by a two-headed monster at the guard position between 6-foot-3 junior Miguel Orbe and 6-foot-5 junior Jordan Corbitt, who transferred from Blanche Ely last season.

Northside Christian vs. Providence- Friday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m.

The Northside Christian Mustangs (19-11) have battled through adversity on numerous occasions this season, when first-year head coachMarreese Speights was suspended back in December, and have been led by acting head coach Braxton Hampton for most of the season. The Mustangs are in the Final Four for the first time in school history, where they come into the semifinal matchup with Providence on a five-game winning streak, dating back to January 31, when they lost to Dr. Phillips at the Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament. The Mustangs have been led this season by 6-foot-6 senior forward Isaac Jacobs, 6-foot-3 senior guard CJ Hearn, 5-foot-11 junior guard Dominick Walsh, and 6-foot-3 senior guard Iean Allen.

The Providence Stallions (27-3) are back in the Final Four for the first time since 2023, where they are led by 26 th -year head coach Jim Martin, who has coached some notable alumni such as Grayson Allen (Phoenix Suns) and Patric Young (Played at Florida). The Stallions come into

their semifinal with Northside Christian on a 15-game winning streak, dating back to December 29, when they lost to Grayson (Georgia) at the Florida Get Down Showdown in Gainesville. The Stallions have been led this season by 6-foot-4 sophomore forward Will Stewart, 6-foot-8 junior power forward Nolan Nelson, and 6-foot-3 junior guard Ryan Gornto. The Stallions will be without 6-foot-3 senior guard Marvin Christie (Jacksonville State signee) for the remainder of the postseason after he sustained a torn Achilles during their regional semifinal win over Rocky Bayou Christian.

Providence defeated Northside Christian, 56-32, back on December 30 at the Florida Get Down Showdown in Gainesville.
