OTR Hoops: North Carolina Opening Standouts (Part II)

On The Radar tipped off its Carolinas schedule with a bang inside the Greensboro Coliseum. Talent across all age groups used the platform to establish themselves as names to know this spring. Here’s who stood out:

Delonte Smith

Apr 1, 2026

Will Trudewind - Elite 1 - 2028

Will is a name to monitor and a gem in the making. Excellent athlete that finishes above the rim with and without contact. Good size & strength to create mismatches to his advantage. Versatile scorer from all over, especially shooting with his smooth mechanics & quick release. Knocked down shots on the move and off the dribble. Led North Meck JV to an undefeated season. Underrated name that should be on your radar this summer.

Jacori Wright - Twelve Time Elite - 2029

Jacori is an explosive athletic wing that is tough to stop or stay in front of. Lived at the rim & played with high energy on both ends of the floor. He was disruptive defensively all weekend long. A true Swiss Army knife for a team full of good players. He showcased the ability to do multiple things throughout the weekend and that versatility is what made him stand out along with the athleticism and ability to finish above the rim.

Nicholas Cannon - CP3 EYBL - 2029

Nick has been a good addition to Team CP3 this year. Two-way player with excellent positional size that can play within any scheme or with any lineup. His size and length allow him to play & guard any position on the floor, which is one of his strengths. A truly versatile piece for the team that can both score and be a playmaker when the time is needed. Tough rebounder on both ends of the floor & also puts consistent pressure on the rim with his ability to touch the paint off the dribble.

Grant Pursley - Twelve Time Elite - 2029

The shot making of Grant was on full display all weekend. Shot it well from all over but specifically in the mid-range. He did it with a hand in his face or in catch & shoot opportunities. Moved extremely well without the ball, which made him even more difficult to guard. He also showcased good shot creation that kept defenders off balance with what to expect. The playmaking stood out when used as an initiator with certain lineups.

Brandon Pitts - Gold Coast - 2027

Polished, versatile & has translatable skills to compete at a high level. He already has an offer from Cleveland State and proved all weekend why he deserves even more looks at the division one level. At 6’8 he scores effectively & efficiently at all three levels but his shot making is elite. It seemed like Brandon was always making the right play when needed, which is an amazing skillset to have. Not to mention the high motor & ability to rebound & defend anyone on the floor

Wyatt Sweet - Elite 1 - 2027

Big physical forward who is a walking double double. Incredible defensive instincts to blend with his offensive versatility. Excellent screener to free up teammates or knock down mid-range shots off those pick & roll sets. Rarely missed at the rim and was able to keep defenses off balance with his footwork and ball fakes. Did not need the ball to impact the game, a translatable skill for the college level.

Owen Hancock - Dub Salem - 2027

One of the top shooters at the event. Scored off numerous sets (pin downs, curls, flares) to show his elite off ball movement, which freed up open looks for others. Had a game where he knocked down EIGHT threes in the first half, just for good measure. Also, he was able to put the ball on the floor & get to the rim against denial defense, as well as utilizing screens to his advantage. Had close to 30 threes made this weekend.
