The On the Radar Rocky Top Invitational is a mainstay on the OTR calendar. This event brings together OTR circuit teams, shoe circuit teams, and independent squads from across the Southeast and Midwest, showcasing a wealth of talented players. Below are some of the notable 2027 standouts from this year’s Rocky Top Invitational.
17U:

Donovan Swain - Team Gold Coast OTR
The consistent development of Swain was clearly on display this weekend. He used his length at 6’4 to be disruptive on the defensive end, hit contested jumpers-rather of the pull up variety or the creation of space, and slashed to the basket finishing through contact. His patience on offense could be seen as with his improved shot selection, creation for teammates to go with his activity on the glass. In three games we tracked he averaged 12.6ppg.

Santonio Waide - B Maze Elite UAA
Waide is a savvy point guard that can score in bunches and when needed or can run the offense and spread the wealth. Waide’s highlight moment of the event was 26-point outing in a come-from-behind win with 19 points coming in the second half. For the weekend he averaged 16ppg while having four games with four or more assists. Waide plays with confidence, poise, passion and energy.

Gavin Reed - Team Gold Coast OTR
Reed continues to improve on the fine elements of his game. He plays with greater aggression on offense—particularly when matched up against strong defenders—and consistently finished plays at the rim. He moves well without the ball and continues to shoot it well from distance off the catch and the bounce. In four tough games he averaged 16.5ppg while connecting on 8 three-pointers. Reed’s aggression was notable; he consistently embraced tough defense and responded well all weekend.

Keaton Terry - A.O.E.
Coming off a state championship season in West Virginia where he averaged a double-double, Terry averaged 20.3ppg and nearly double-digit rebounds as A.O.E. 2027 went 3-0 on the weekend. The 6’6 forward plays bigger than he is, is strong, and displayed a balanced game overall offensively by scoring in and around the paint and at rim. He showed he could step out and hit mid-range shots, played through contact and rebounded well on both ends. He has a knack of always being around the ball as he was disruptive on the perimeter and inside defensively. He showcased nice touch around the rim and scored using both hands. He communicated at both ends, runs the floor well and played with a vast amount of confidence.

Charles Matthews - 444 Athletics Pro16
Matthews can get to the paint from either side of the floor and finish with either hand. He is always under control and uses his deceptive strength to his advantage. He consistently put pressure on the defense by attacking the rim and getting to the foul line where he shot over 80%. Matthews is a hard-nosed defender who moves his feet well, plays passing lanes and uses active hands to hound opponents. In two games we tracked he averaged 12.5 points, 4 assists and 2 steals.

Kelyn Haucke - 1Vision Elite:
Haucke showed he can light it up with a lethal stroke from distance. Haucke moved well without the ball to free himself for catch-and-shoot opportunities. In four games, all wins, he connected on 24 three-pointers. He has a deceptively quick release, plays with poise, confidence and is always looking to make a play on both ends. Haucke averaged 21ppg and as he continues to develop and add more to his game, he is a prospect to keep eyes on.

Samuel Pino - SE Elite 3SBB:
Pino showed he is built for the big moments. Pino drained a three-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime and then hit the game-winner in overtime at the buzzer. The grit and determination of the point guard is always on display. His communication, patience, hustle and peskiness on defense makes him an interesting prospect. He knows how to get others in spots to score, and he is very coachable as is displayed in his running of the offense.

Omari Brown - 1Vision Elite:
Brown is an aggressive guard that can keep opponents off balance with his ability to attack the paint or hit from the outside. He has great length that he uses to his advantage on the defensive end. Another thing that stood out with Brown is whenever he made a mistake on offense, he used his defense to “get it back”, he never quits on plays. In three games we tracked he averaged 21.3ppg, connected on nine three-pointers, dropped off nine assists and had multiple steals.
