OTR Hoops: Season in Review (Florida Edition) - 2026’s in Focus - February 4, 2026
We have reached the end of the 2025-2026 regular season in high school basketball across the Sunshine State. I was able to get out and see some intriguing games this season, as well as watch film on players outside of my coverage area. Today, we will focus on our senior class, as many players remain unsigned or uncommitted to where they will be playing their collegiate basketball careers.

OTR Hoops: Season in Review (Florida Edition) - 2026’s in Focus
We have reached the end of the 2025-2026 regular season in high school basketball across the Sunshine State. I was able to get out and see some intriguing games this season, as well as watch film on players outside of my coverage area. Today, we will focus on our senior class, as many players remain unsigned or uncommitted to where they will be playing their collegiate basketball careers.
Ethan Bergatino - Calvary Christian (Clearwater)
Bergatino is a polished scorer on the offensive end, where he is tough to cover off penetration as well as out on the perimeter. He is an elite decision maker when he has the basketball in his hands, knowing when to score and when to play make for his teammates. On the defensive end, he is active when guarding the passing lanes as his length and athleticism continue to be effective. His all-around game should allow him to be a key contributor when he gets to the next level. Bergatino averaged 12.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game this season.
Lavant Burgess - Seminole
Burgess has elite footwork and body control when it comes to patrolling the paint on the offensive end. His creativity off the catch and bounce is top-notch when it comes to his soft touch around the rim, as well as his smooth jumper in the mid-range. He is also a smart passer when it comes to finding teammates on the move on the offensive end. On the defensive end, he is a matchup nightmare for opposing bigs as his reach is impeccable when it comes to challenging shots at the rim, as well as limiting the opposition from getting second-chance scoring opportunities. Burgess is a double-double threat anytime he steps onto the floor with his combination skillset of scoring and rebounding.
Tyler Caouette - Jesuit (Tampa)
Caouette plays under control from the secondary guard position as he uses his size and frame to his advantage, whether it’s on the attack or pulling from behind the arc. His three-level scoring on the offensive end draws attention to the defense, where he can hurt you when left uncovered, as he can finish at the rim as well. His defensive versatility also speaks high volumes, as he can guard multiple positions at a high level using his athleticism to his advantage. His combination skillset of three-level scoring and versatile defending could receive interest from college coaches as a two-way guard.
Marvin Christie - Providence School (Jacksonville)
Christie is a perennial two-way player who brings an impeccable presence on both ends of the floor. On the offensive end, he can create his own shot off the catch as well as the bounce at a high percentage. He is also dangerous when it comes to attacking the basket, where he can finish efficiently around the rim with either hand, as well as drawing loads of contact and getting himself to the free-throw line. On the defensive end, he is active when it comes to guarding the ball as well as getting into the passing lanes with his speed and athleticism. He is also an above-average rebounder for his size, where he isn’t afraid to push the basketball up the floor in transition. Christie doesn’t take any possessions off on either end of the floor and can make an immediate impact when he gets to Jacksonville State next season.
Kaleb Corbitt - Miami Country Day
The Troy University signee is a true three-level scorer on the offensive end. He also uses great body control and footwork in the interior, where he knocks down timely shots around the basket. He uses his size and length to his advantage as he is a strong rebounder on both ends of the floor, where he can finish put-backs as well as kick out to open shooters with his accurate passing and court vision. On the defensive end, he plays with a ton of length and physicality, where he can alter shots at the rim as well as guard out on the perimeter with his athleticism. With his combination skillset of three-level scoring, versatile defending, and constant movement on both ends of the floor, Corbitt could be a true difference maker playing at a mid-major.
Langston Hackworth - Andrew Jackson
Hackworth is a stretch four where he uses his length and mobility on the offensive end, whether it’s catching lobs around the rim or knocking down shots from the perimeter. He also runs the floor exceptionally well for his size and recovers in the passing gaps. On the defensive end, he is active when it comes to protecting the rim as well as using his length to contest shots from the mid-range and perimeter. His constant effort on both ends of the floor shows his true skill set that feeds energy to his teammates. Hackworth averaged 14.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game this season for the Tigers.
Christian Yeargin - Stranahan
The 6-foot-4 combo guard is hard-nosed, and he plays with a ton of poise and confidence on the offensive end. He is an elite shooter and playmaker when it comes to playing off the catch, where he feeds his teammates off dribble drives. On the defensive end, he can guard multiple positions with his length and athleticism. He is an elite rebounder for his size and can push the tempo off turnovers and missed shots from the guard position. His combination skillset of three-level scoring and playmaking should intrigue a ton of college coaches once he gets to the next level.
