FEATURE PLAYER

PJ Dozier (Columbia, S.C.), Upward Stars – 2015

At 6-foot-7 tall Dozier is a unique prospect on the perimeter. While he possesses the size and athleticism that make him an elite prospect on the wing, Dozier has taken those attributes and made himself into one of the better point guards in the nation. Dozier could be compared to Michael Carter Williams, who just finished his rookie season with the Philadelphia 76ers, because of his length and athleticism at the same position on the floor. In our latest evaluation of Dozier at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions at Suwanee Sports Academy, he showed explosiveness to get to the rim and finish. He immediately puts his opponents at a disadvantage because of height and his athleticism only accentuates this advantage. He has the tools to be a scoring guard or a facilitator from the lead guard position.

Dozier is showing no ill-effects of the knee injury that he sustained several months ago. The only part of his game that could use refining would be the consistency on his jumper. Dozier should solidify himself as one of the top five point guards nationally in the class of 2015 after this spring and summer. His recruiting is on fire as of late. Regionally teams such as Clemson, Georgia Tech, Georgia and South Carolina have offered. However, teams from the BIG Conference such as Indiana, Michigan and Ohio State have also pursued him heavily as of late. In addition Georgetown, North Carolina and Kansas are other potential top 25 teams who would love to have Dozier in uniform.
