NBPA Top 100 Camp Evaluation: Jawun Evans (Dallas, Texas), Team Texas Elite – 2015

In a setting where the best square off against the best, Evans shined as the top point guard while on the campus of the University of Virginia at the NBPA Top 100 Camp. Evans has a compact frame that allows him to weave through defenders while also being able to take the bump on the drive. He was equally effective at finding open teammates and also scoring in the lane. Evans mixes skill with athleticism to be effective both in transition and in the half-court setting. His quick burst with the ball make him virtually unguardable in space and a threat to score at the rim. He works the pick and roll action very well and becomes a threat to score or lead a teammate to a score if the double team comes. The Texas resident put his name squarely among one of the top 20 prospects in the nation after his performance in Charlottesville.

Evans’ services have already been in high demand leading into this summer. Coach John Groce at the University of Illinois has been hotly pursuing Evans recently. The Illini offered Evans and believe that his style would fit perfectly within Groce’s guard friendly style. Other schools such as Cincinnati, Clemson, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech have also offered the 5-star guard. You can expect his recruiting to heat up even more after this July while he plays with SC Raptors. You can catch Evans and the Raptors for a showcase game with OntheRadarHoops.com on July 20th at the Summer Slam Session II.
