The Carolina Memorial Classic once again delivered a high-level weekend of grassroots basketball, packed with standout performances from some of the top young talent in the region. From polished scoring wings to dominant interior presences and floor generals controlling the pace, multiple players elevated themselves throughout the event with consistency, feel, and overall impact. Here are some of the biggest standouts from the weekend.

Brandon Barbier - CC Elite - 2028

Every successful team needs a guard capable of organizing the floor, controlling tempo, and leading vocally, and Brandon Barbier embraced that role all weekend long for CC Elite. Barbier plays with impressive poise and understands how to dictate pace without slowing the offense down. He consistently got teammates organized, handled pressure well, and made smart reads in tight situations. What stands out most is how interchangeable he is offensively. He can initiate offense, create advantages in the pick-and-roll, or keep defenses honest with his perimeter shooting. Defensively, he brought another level of value with relentless full-court pressure. Barbier constantly disrupted opposing guards with active hands and energy, helping create momentum swings throughout games.

Lorenzo McCorvey - Team Person OTR - 2027

Lorenzo McCorvey continues building a serious case as one of the most skilled and unique players on the OTR Circuit. At 6’6, the Team Person wing possesses a smoothness and versatility that immediately stands out. McCorvey impacts the game naturally. Nothing feels forced with him. He glides in transition, creates mismatches across multiple positions, and consistently makes difficult plays look routine. His combination of length, fluidity, and instincts allows him to affect the game in a variety of ways without needing high-volume touches. What makes him especially intriguing is how complete his game already feels for a 2027 prospect. He has also shown flashes of playing a point forward, adding another layer of versatility, and proving that he can be applied to any program. Whether operating downhill, finishing through contact, or making plays within the flow of the offense, McCorvey showed why his stock continues to rise every time he steps on the floor.

KJ Reed - GA Stunners OTR - 2029

Few players made scoring look easier this weekend than KJ Reed. The 2029 wing displayed an advanced offensive feel and continued showing why he is one of the more intriguing young scorers in the region. Reed’s touches-to-points ratio is extremely high. He does not need to dominate the ball to impact the game offensively. He scored comfortably at all three levels, got to his spots efficiently, and consistently let the game come to him instead of forcing difficult possessions. Beyond the scoring, Reed also flashed more floor-general qualities throughout the event. He looked increasingly comfortable facilitating offense, reading defenders, and creating opportunities for teammates. That added layer to his game makes his long-term upside even more exciting. Definitely a scholarship-level piece, and someone who should be tracked very closely.

Jackson Reed - Charlotte Aces OTR - 2028

Jackson Reed’s name continues to pop up every single showing, and it is easy to understand why. The 2028 wing remains one of the most natural scorers on the OTR Circuit and consistently makes the game look simple. Reed thrives because of how well he plays within the flow of the game. He moves exceptionally well off the ball, makes quick decisions, and consistently finds efficient scoring opportunities without forcing action. Once he gets into rhythm, he becomes extremely difficult to slow down. What stood out this weekend were additional flashes of his athleticism and explosiveness. While his scoring polish is already well known, Reed continued showing more dimensions to his game by attacking downhill, getting to his spots confidently, and finishing strong around the rim.

Devin Melton - Team Person OTR - 2029

At 6’9, Devin Melton physically overwhelmed opponents throughout the weekend with his interior presence and rebounding ability. The young big consistently imposed himself around the basket on both ends of the floor. Melton excelled controlling the glass, finishing assertively, and creating second-chance opportunities. He plays through contact naturally and embraces physicality inside. Opponents struggled matching his size and activity level around the rim. One of the more impressive aspects of his performance was the energy he brought possession-to-possession. Whether securing rebounds, protecting the paint, or finishing with force, Melton constantly impacted the game physically and emotionally for Team Person. He isn’t just tall, he truly is a dominant big man.

Max Werdann - CC Elite - 2028

Max Werdann continues looking like a prospect with real long-term college upside. The 6’7 forward possesses a combination of length, mobility, and offensive versatility that makes him highly intriguing. Werdann thrives in transition and consistently finds easy baskets by running the floor hard. He attacks with purpose, finishes confidently around the rim, and flashes a surprisingly wide offensive bag for his size and age. What also stood out was his comfort level operating in space. Werdann moves fluidly, makes smart decisions attacking gaps, and shows the type of developing offensive instincts coaches love projecting long-term. His vision was also on full-display as he constantly found teammates on timely cuts, spot-up opportunities, and whenever it was the right play in execution.
