We’re taking a look at 15 of the top point guards in the state of Georgia, regardless of classification. From proven seniors to talented underclassmen, these guards separate themselves with their ability to score, create for others and impact winning.

Kevin Savage | Wheeler

The Purdue commit is a pass-first point guard who excels at creating opportunities for his teammates while also possessing the ability to score when needed. Savage plays with poise, makes good decisions with the ball and understands how to control the tempo of a game. He will be a key piece for Wheeler as the Wildcats look to repeat as state champions this season.

Tre Keith | Tri-Cities

Keith is one of the premier multi-level scorers in the state. He can create his own shot off the dribble, knock down jumpers from the perimeter and use his quickness to get downhill and finish around the basket. While Keith can put points on the board in a hurry, he is also capable of creating opportunities for his teammates. Keith recently committed to Boston College.

Braylon Luster | Cherokee

Luster’s toughness and basketball IQ immediately stand out. The Mercer commit has good positional size and plays with strength, physicality and an edge on both ends of the floor. He competes on every possession, embraces contact and brings a level of toughness that sets the tone for his team.

KD Hernandez | The Walker School

Hernandez is a hard-nosed, competitive guard who plays with confidence and fearlessness. He is a talented playmaker who can break down defenders off the dribble, create for teammates and bring some flair to the position. His competitiveness and aggressive approach allow him to consistently put pressure on opposing defenses.

AJ Williams | Harlem 

Williams is as tough a guard as there is in the state. He’s a defensive menace. Williams can be a major disruptor on that end of the floor. On offense, he pressures defenses with his pursuit of the rim. Williams is well-rounded. A stat stuffer who rebounds from the guard spot and looks to get his teammates involved. Williams has had multiple D-I schools visit and offer him this fall. 

Jahmar Maurice | Woodstock

Maurice is one of the best scorers in the state. He can fill it up in a hurry. A true three-level guy, Maurice is a shifty driver and crafty finisher at the rim. He changes speeds and directions to keep defenders off balance. He shoots it well from deep too. Maurice’s athleticism continues to improve too. He has a chance to be one of the leading scorers in the GHSA this season.

Zach Graves | McEachern

Anyone who has seen Graves enough can tell you that he’s one of the better passers in the region. Graves can flat-out dish the ball to everyone around him. He’s strong on drives and plays with plenty of craft. Graves is an offensive engine who can get points on the board for his team in a variety of ways. 

Zaiden Nelson | Peach County

One of the youngest guards on this list, Nelson is a future star outside of the Atlanta metro. Nelson can touch the paint and make quick decisions from there. He’s a good finisher with good control at the rim, and he reads defenses well to make passes from the middle of the floor. He has plus size and length too. He’ll be someone featured on lists like this for the next couple of years.

Amare Medhin | Redan 

Medhin has started to build buzz over the last year or so. The 2029 PG has a pure shooting stroke. At around 6-foot-3, Mehin’s combination of playmaking and multi-level scoring makes him one of the more intriguing prospects in the state’s 2029 class. Now that he has a solid amount of experience at this level, he should have a breakout sophomore season.

Calvin Goss | Jonesboro

Goss is one of the more impressive athletes at the point guard spot. A two-way impact, Goss is an energetic and competitive athlete who makes his presence felt. He knows what it’s like to play with high-end talent and how to share the ball, and he has shown that he can be one of the primary options on a team.

Grant Robich | North Cobb Christian

Recently committed to the University of Montevallo, Robich is the kind of PG that coaches love. He brings high energy and effort on both ends of the floor. Robich is quick with a great feel for the game. He balances scoring and passing well. He can score on all three levels and has good range on his 3-point shot. 

Jevon Sullivan | Eastside 

Sullivan used the spring to his advantage and emerged as one 2027’s biggest risers at the point guard position. High motor, physical on both ends, plus athleticism, Sullivan checks a lot of boxes when he steps on the floor. He’ll guard the opponent’s best player and make getting into offense difficult. On the other end, he’ll use a strong frame to bully through contact and get to the rim. College coaches will want to keep tabs on Sullivan this winter.

Jeremiah Anderson | Grayson 

Look out for 2029 Jeremiah Anderson. He has the physical tools to continue to emerge as one of the top guard prospects in the state’s 2029 class. Anderson brings positive size, length and athleticism to the position. He has repeatedly shown to be a talented scorer and playmaker off the dribble. Now with Grayson, he will be featured in a stable of talented guards for the next couple of years.

BJ Love | Pebblebrook

Pebblebrook has been a consistent guard factory in Georgia. The Falcons have another good one in BJ Love. He attacks with a purpose when he has the ball. Love looks for paint touches to kick to shooters around him or to take all the way to the rim. Of course, he can shoot it himself too. When he’s in a rhythm, Love can be dangerous with his jumper.

David Williams | Maynard Jackson

Williams is one of the most underrated bucket getters in Georgia. He can fill it up from all three levels without sacrificing his ability to create for others. He has a lot of offensive gravity. Williams is a knockdown shooter from deep. He was one of the standout prospects on the OTR Circuit this spring and summer.
