A tad beyond the midpoint of the high school season, it’s the time of year when everyone in the industry takes a big picture look at their respective beat.
The general review of the landscape, for me at least, starts with a look at who’s on the board. College coaches of all levels will inevitably start reaching out soon to check in on who’s available.

The general review of the landscape, for me at least, starts with a look at who’s on the board. College coaches of all levels will inevitably start reaching out soon to check in on who’s available.
This is an exercise to spotlight some of the notable uncommitted players in Georgia.
Here are some of the best guards still available:

Bobby Buggs - Dutchtown: Buggs has to be in the discussion about one of the best prospects available in Georgia in general which means that he’s easily one of the best guards on the board. He’s been putting up big numbers with Dutchtown as a scorer with his ability to get it going from all three levels. He uses a shifty and bursty attack to get to his spots. Buggs is known for his bucket-getting ability, but he’s also been racking up plenty of steals on a consistent basis for the Bulldogs this season as well.

Torian Greene - Alexander: Greene is one of the most all-around impactful prospects available. He just finds ways to impact the game. Most of the time it’s his multi-positional defensive aptitude paired with a high motor that leads to his production. He brings great energy to the floor on a game-by-game basis. Recently, he’s been showing signs of potent offensive ability. When Greene is in rhythm, he can heat up from the outside and put on impressive scoring displays. He’s done that across multiple platforms within the last few months. Greene was one of the state’s most significant stock risers throughout 2025, and he’s now one of the best prospects available at the guard position.
Lamarrion Lewis - Wheeler: It’s not easy to crack the rotation at Wheeler, but La Lewis has been a mainstay in the backcourt on Holt Road for years. He just does winning things on both ends of the floor. Lewis guards tough and pursues loose balls with a hardhat mentality. Offensively, he’s efficient and lets the game come to him. When he gets going, he can shoot the ball as well as anyone, but if it’s not his night, he never forces the issue and is a ball mover who will find the hot hand.

Malik Rideout - Grayson: This high school season has seen Malik Rideout take his game to another level with Grayson. It’s not easy to step into a program with high expectations and be tasked with running the show, but he’s been great. Rideout does a little bit of everything well. He can be an assist guy if he needs to be, he can rebound if he needs to help on the glass, he can be the Rams’ primary scoring option. More or less, Rideout has had to fill multiple roles and has shown that he can do them well. One of the staples of his game, throughout his career, has been getting into the paint and either drawing contact or converting tough finishes at the rim. He’s continued to excel at that this season.

Jason Welborn - Decatur: Welborn has been building a nice resume throughout his time as a prospect. His athleticism and ability to hit shots have been consistent over the years. He’s proven his game against all kinds of competition across varying stages too. Welborn has won big-time games throughout his career. There’s plenty to be said for being an everyday player, and Welborn has been that. He’s as steady as they come in Georgia.
