The 2026 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) regional playoffs are officially underway as we look at some of the top performers from this weekend’s regional quarterfinals.
Anthony Brown - Boca Ciega - 2027
Brown continues to use his strength and frame to his advantage when attacking downhill on the offensive end. His scoring prowess proved to be the difference in the opening round win over LaBelle. He also rebounded at a high level, where he generated extra possessions for his team as well as limiting second-chance scoring opportunities on the defensive end. His effort and energy on both ends of the floor allow him to make an impact in a variety of ways. Look for Brown and Boca Ciega to make a deep postseason run this season.
Trey Chisholm - Forest (Ocala) - 2026
Chisholm was active from the opening jump, where on the offensive end, he can stop on a dime as well as finish above the rim. He was also efficient as a playmaker, where he finished with a team-high seven assists in the upset win over top-seeded Mainland in the opening round. He also finished with a team-high 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field, along with five rebounds. His unselfishness and winning plays made the difference, where he can send his team to a possible deep playoff run this season.
Carson Crawford - Fleming Island- 2027
Crawford has had a stellar junior season, and in the opening round win over Gainesville was no different. The 6-foot-7 wing finished with a game-high 20 points, along with 18 rebounds, where his size and length effectively orchestrated the offense throughout the game. His efforts on the defensive end, where he was active on the glass limiting the opposition from getting second-chance scoring opportunities. With Crawford’s two-way playmaking presence, he could lead the Golden Eagles to a deep postseason run and will have a tall task against Booker T. Washington (Pensacola) in the Class 5A, Region 1 semifinals on Saturday.
Tekelvin Jackson - North Marion - 2026
Jackson has a smooth and consistent jump shot where he can knock down off the catch and bounce at a high level. His defensive instincts, where he can guard on and off the ball, have taken huge strides this season, where he has the length to cover the passing lanes, as well as alter shots above the rim. His energy is a tone-setter that can spell a possible deep playoff run this season for his team.
Laron Mack Jr - Riviera Prep - 2028
The 6-foot-7 sophomore wing was impeccable on the offensive end, showcasing his length and versatility, where he can score on the inside as well as in the mid-range. In the opening round win over Archbishop Carroll, Mack finished with a game-high 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field and was sensational on the glass, collecting a team-high 13 rebounds. He was very comfortable with the basketball in his hands, as he is just scratching the surface as a two-way player.
Owen McLaughlin - New Smyrna Beach - 2026
McLaughlin is a reliable catch-and-shoot scoring threat on the offensive end, as well as a threat when it comes to his ability to attack downhill, finishing above the rim. On the defensive end, his versatility spoke high volumes where he often at times he was guarding smaller players, where his length made a ton of havoc for getting off a solid shot. McLaughlin is one of the more underrated athletes not just in the Space Coast area, but in the entire state, where his leadership could take his squad to a possible deep playoff run.
Daniel Rees - St. John Neumann - 2026
Rees is a score-first guard who can impact the game from his attack towards the basket as well as knocking down shots from the perimeter. In the opening round win over Carrollwood Day, Rees finished with a game-high 27 points along with three rebounds and two assists. He has put together a stellar senior season, which could make him a late bloomer on the recruiting trail. Whether Rees will be the primary point guard or shooting guard at the next level, he is a college-ready prospect who can make an immediate impact.
Dominick Walsh - Northside Christian - 2027
Walsh returned to his scoring form in the opening round win over Seffner Christian, where he attacked the rim as well as stopping on a dime from the perimeter. The 5-foot-11 junior point guard finished with a team-high 22 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, including 4-of-6 from behind the arc. His impact on the defensive end played a huge role, where he was heavily guarding the ball, recording a team-high five steals as well. With Walsh’s two-way playmaking, he can provide a huge burst for his team, where they could be a dark horse favorite to reach the Class 2A Final Four in Jacksonville next month.
