We’re highlighting the future of Florida high school’s basketball after the first AAU event of the On the Radar circuit season. With 11U-14U teams taking the four we’ve discovered a few prospects we need to keep an eye on. Before are the names and games of eight of those young ballers.
Izaac Gonzalez - 2030 - LGNDZ
Gonzalez is one of those fluid, effortless athletes that catch you off guard. He’s already 5-foot-10 or so and can finish above the rim on the break. He’s a good wing scorer who can break down defenders in isolation to get to the rim. Gonzalez finishes well going left and right.
EJ Soto - 2032 - Florida Rebels
Soto brings an edge and poise to the point guard position. Soto is in control of the game, and has the ball on a string. Soto already has the intangibles you’re looking for in a point guard. He knows how to manipulate the defense and get his teammates involved.
Brandon Alston - 2030 - Kissimmee All Stars
Alston had an all star performance in the 15U championship game. He scored almost half his team’s points and showed a knack for taking over games. He’s an aggressive downhill driver who is always hunting for point touches. He’s a capable shooter off the bounce and the dribble. Alston oozes leadership on the floor. A high energy player who will surprise with his speed and anticipation.
Mark Moncrieffe - 2030 - Pure Passion
Moncrieffe is a long, twitchy guard. He plays with a lot of energy on both ends of the floor. He uses his length and quickness to attack closing lanes and has the speed to finish on the break. In the half court he got downhill when he built up a head of steam and knocked down shots from the wing on limited attempts.
Adrian Sanz - 2032 - Southeast Elite
Sanz had one of the best shooting performances of the tournament when he knocked down 5 threes in a game. Each attempt was taken with confidence and the proper form. Sanz has a bit of size on him to start his basketball career. We could be looking at a knock down shooter who can hold his own in the perimeter one day.
Xavier Gullatt - 2030 - Austin Rivers Elite
Gullatt is a natural scorer. He doesn’t need a play called for him but when the ball it’s his show. He made shots on all three levels. Gallutt is a good athlete in transition. Showed really good touch on fadeaway and short jumpers in the paint.
Peter Sanchez - 2032 - Kissimmee All Stars
Sanchez is just under 6-foot tall as a wiry sixth grader. That size and his length allows him to block shots in the paint.
Carter Rodriguez - 2032 - Tre Mann
Rodriguez is one of those young scorers who just knows how to get a bucket. He can shoot from the high school three. He can get downhill and give his defender a bump on drives to create more space. His feel for scoring without the ball sticking in his hands make him really polished for his age.
