Team Spotlight

Last year each one of the Smyrna Stars games were packed with college coaches for the Elite 32 Session I & II Tournament during the July evaluation period. This year will be no different as the Smyrna Stars have loaded up once again

Player Profiles:

Torrico Simmons (Irwinton, GA), Wilkinson County HS 2015

Simmons is a quick and elusive guard who pushes the ball in transition where he has the ability to stop on the dime and knock down the jumper. He can score the ball in bunches. He can also penetrate and kick to open teammates with either hand while making a difficult pass look easy. Simmons was a standout in the On the Radar Hoops Sweet 16 during the spring evaluation, look for this lead guard to turn some heads during July

Ty’lik Evans (Macon, GA), Rutland HS-2015

Evans is extremely quick and makes great decisions. He makes this team go as he has the ability to get anywhere on the court whenever he wants to get there. Over the weekend he was automatic from behind the arc as he shot the ball well off the catch and dribble. As a floor commander, he did a great job of penetrating the defense and finding teammates for the easy basket.

Eric Williams (Athens, GA), Athens Academy HS-2015

This 5-foot-9 guard has tremendous speed and quickness with the ball and can elevate over defenders for the finish. Williams can score from the point guard position, however he also does a good job setting up his teammates. He can push the ball down the court and gets wherever he wants with it. He gets into the paint at will with his athleticism and explosive ability.

D’Andre Mahaffey (Athens, GA), Cedar Shoals HS-2015

Mahaffey is a stretch forward that has the ability to score inside and out. He was able to stretch the floor with range out beyond the three-point line and have the versatility to post up on the low block

Cam Wiley (Atlanta, GA), Marist HS-2015

Wiley caught fire during our Sweet 16 Tournament during the spring evaluation period. He has the ability to score in bunches rather its attacking the basket or scoring from behind the arc
