We’re taking a look at 20 of the top combo guards in the state of Georgia, regardless of classification. From proven seniors to talented underclassmen, these guards separate themselves with their ability to score, create for others and impact winning.

Jarvis Hayes - Woodward Academy - 2027

Recently committed to play at Georgia, Hayes is one of the best athletes at the guard spot in the country. He’s showtime when he gets out in transition. It’s smooth, easy athleticism. Hayes uses his physical tools to impact the game in all facets of it. He’s a terrific positional rebounder and an impactful defender. His 3-point shooting has changed games too. He can rattle off several in a row when he gets going. Not only is Hayes one of the best overall prospects in Georgia, he’s one of the best nationally too.

Chase Lumpkin - McEachern - 2027

Lumpkin is one of the smoothest scorers in the region. He’s a true three-level guy who can hit shots in bunches. His form is as pure as it gets. Lumpkin is committed to Alabama, and anyone who is familiar with the Nate Oats system can see how well Lumpkin’s offensive game fits in Tuscaloosa.

Justin Wise - North Oconee - 2027

Justin Wise’s career aligns with the best run North Oconee has seen. His impact on success has been there from day one of his high school career. Wise is a prolific scorer who can absolutely light it up from deep. He’s got a pure shooting stroke with great range. Shooting is his specialty, but he is a more-than-capable playmaker with a good feel for the game. Wise committed to Georgia earlier in the year.

Austin Leonard - Grayson - 2029

Leonard had an impressive freshman season at Grayson. His maturity is beyond his years. He plays an advanced, mistake-free game. Since then he’s only gotten more athletic and bigger because of physical maturation. Leonard is one of the best guard rebounders in the state. He does a little bit of everything well and makes everyone around him better.

Akil Robinson - Kipp Atlanta - 2027

Robinson has a combination of positional size and high-level athleticism that makes him an exciting player. He can create for himself whether that means freeing himself for a drive and dunk at the rim or creating enough space to get to his jumper. Robinson is a reliable off-ball player who cuts well and can hit an open jumper. His recruitment started to pick up this summer with a number of D-I schools extending offers after big June.

Myles Hayes - Woodward Academy - 2028

Much like Jarvis, Myles Hayes is of the best positional athletes in the country. He plays a gritty, dirty-work style. Myles does a lot of rebounding and makes captivating defensive plays. He’s the get-on-the-floor guy who has been making hustle plays his whole high school career. His jumpshot has only gotten more consistent too. Myles is one of the most well-rounded prospects we have in the state.

Shamar Madden - Wheeler - 2028

Madden should be seeing increased minutes at Wheeler this season which’ll lead to more of a spotlight to show off his skillset. Madden is an elite mid-range player. He is a killer with his pull-up jumper. He’s a good driver and an athletic finisher, and he can knock down the three ball too. Madden is an efficient player with good instincts.

Bryson Jatta - Hillgrove - 2028

Hillgrove has as high of expectations as ever with its talented roster. One of the Hawks’ stars is guard Bryson Jatta. He’s a strong, athletic, explosive player. Jatta can shine bright on both ends of the floor with his killer mentality. He can score on all levels and make highlights above the rim.

Shane Goines - Wheeler - 2028

Goines is a talented guard with a nice blend of athleticism and skill. His jumper and range are valuable tools in his arsenal, and he can use craft and a good handle to get to his spots off the bounce. Goines has good feel on both ends too. He’ll step into a bright spotlight at one of the state’s blue blood programs this season.

Culen Browne - Eagles Landing Christian - 2028

When he’s at his best there aren’t many better tough shot makers than Culen Browne. He is an impressive shooter who can light up a scoreboard quickly. He uses his threat as a shooter to attack too. Browne can throw down big dunks when he gets a head of steam. Browne will be a part of one of the most talented teams in the state this winter.

Case Presley - Dacula - 2028

Presley is another talented guard in a deep 2028 class at the position. He’s a gifted and versatile scorer who can get it done from all three levels. His game has taken strides in the playmaking department. Presley is growing as a facilitator. He has a great pull-up game and can make athletic finishes at the rim.

Duke Howell - Norcross - 2029

Howell is a bucket getter through and through. The 6-foot-4 guard has a smooth scoring package that comes with a legit jumper with good range on it. Howell is a crafty driver with a nice bag of tricks to clear up space for himself at the rim. He is already garnering interest from high major programs which isn’t a surprise. He’ll continue to get spotlighted as the 2029 class steps into a more national focus.

Tyce Curtis - Wheeler - 2027

Curtis is an assertive paint touch machine. He looks to get downhill often to either score or make a play for someone else. Curtis is a high-level finisher who plays through contact well. He’s a versatile defensive player too. Now at Wheeler, Curtis will have plenty of talent around him to continue to show the breadth of his game.

Roman Avery - Mt Bethel - 2027

Avery needs to be circled on every scouting report because he’s as dangerous a shooter as anyone in the state. He can really pour it in from deep. That’s his superpower, but he’s not limited to shooting. Avery has a high IQ and is an improving playmaker as well as an underrated defender. He competes on that end of the floor and has made some big plays because of that.

Isaiah Dorsainvil - Dutchtown - 2028

Dorsainvil has a ton of potential to continue to grow into. He’s already an impressive prospect with his plus perimeter length, defensive upside, and scoring versatility. Dorsainvil is one of the best two-way prospects in Georgia’s 2028 class. He brings a ton of energy and switchability to that end of the floor. Offensively, he has a clean shot and a well-rounded skillset.

Donovin Martin - Alexander - 2028

Martin is going to have the platform to be a breakout prospect this winter. He’s a two-way guy who’ll pressure both ends of the floor. Martin is a tremendous athlete. He’s good for a high-flying play at the rim. Martin brings the kind of energy to the floor that we’ve come to expect out of Alexander players. Tough, athletic, high motor.

Nana Kinyanjui - North Cobb - 2027

Kinyanjui has a game-changing jumper. Whether from range or off a quick mid-range pull up, he’s a killer with that shot. Now at North Cobb, Kinyanjui will be a reliable guard as a scorer or game manager to help usher in the new era under Coach Spivey.

Qua Watson - Central Gwinnett - 2027

Watson has a well-rounded game. He has an easy offensive game with a quick-release jumpshot. He can be a lights out shooter but also can put the ball on the floor and attack closeouts. We saw him make 20-plus-point games look easy throughout the spring and summer on the OTR Circuit. Watson has plus length on the perimeter that adds to his defensive upside.

Preston Liston - Lassiter - 2027

Liston has a case to be the best shooter on this list. He is lethal from deep when he’s in a rhythm. Liston has continually improved as a secondary creator, positional rebounder and finisher at the rim. An understated thing about Liston is that winning follows him. Sewer South won the OTR Circuit championship and Lassiter has had its best run of sustained success while Liston has been there.

Xion Evans - Best Academy - 2027

Evans is an assertive guard who’s always in attack mode. He pressures defenses with his shifty and elusive rim attack. Evans is a major downhill threat, but he’s not limited to that. He’s proven that his jumper is a real weapon. He can hit tough ones in pressure situations too. Evans has a fearlessness that’ll benefit him at the next level.
