Who Is Georgia’s Top Player?

Marist senior guard Kate Harpring is the consensus answer. A top-five national prospect and University of North Carolina commit, the 5-foot-10 guard is known for her scoring prowess. She shoots accurately off the catch and the pull-up. A physical guard who initiates contact in traffic, Harpring sets the standard for the term 3-level scorer.

She ranked among the top five scorers on the Adidas Circuit this spring and summer while playing with the Southeast All-Stars.

Harpring was named Gatorade Player of the Year in Georgia last season. She is in line to earn a host of accolades if she continues her current trajectory. She is the daughter of Georgia Tech Hall of Fame forward Matt Harpring.

Which Players Are on the Rise in Georgia?

The state is rich with talent, from seniors to freshmen. The Class of 2027 will be especially intriguing to watch this high school season.

Creekside guard C’India Dennis returns for the Seminoles after leading her team to a perfect 32-0 season and a GHSA Class 5A state championship. Dennis and company upset the aforementioned Harpring and Marist in the Final Four en route to the title. She returns with maturity and valuable experience after leading FBC United on the Under Armour Circuit.

Also keep an eye on Newton guard London Smith, who led her squad to a state title last year. She is generating significant recruiting buzz as the Rams return all key pieces from last year’s championship team.

Beyond metro Atlanta, watch Trinitee Thomas of Warner Robins build momentum in Class 5A. Her team finished 25-2 with a perfect 8-0 in region play.

Which Unsigned Seniors Should College Coaches Target in Georgia?

Ellison Steinhauer of Pickens County is a rising name out of North Georgia. The 5-foot-10 point guard led her team to a 27-3 record last season. She brings a rare blend of size, skill, and shooting to the backcourt.

The Grayson Rams have long been a hotbed of women’s basketball talent. Coach Tim Slater fields competitive teams and develops players as well as anyone in metro Atlanta. Senior guard Coco Rudolph should not remain uncommitted much longer. Her size, strength, and athleticism earned attention over the summer. Expect her to play a pivotal role in the Rams’ success this season.

Seckinger guard Nalani Gainey earned offers from numerous programs following July’s open periods. The 5-foot-5 point guard is noted for her athleticism, defense, and savvy offensive play. A standout in flag football and track & field, her all-around athleticism stands out heading into her senior year.
