ORLANDO, Fla. — We are just under a week away from the first live period of the spring, where we have 42 teams gearing up to play in front of college coaches. Here are 6 additional players who stood out throughout the event:
Zihong Fan - Sunshine Elite OTR - 2027
The 6-foot-7 junior combo forward brings a versatile skill set, able to play inside and outside in the half-court on the offensive end. He displayed smooth footwork and confidence in his handle out on the perimeter. He also had a strong knack for attacking the basket, absorbing contact, and getting to the free-throw line on numerous occasions in the 9 a.m. game against the Powerhouse Bulls. On the defensive end, he mixed in some physicality, where he was snatching down timely rebounds and limited the opposition from getting second-chance scoring opportunities.
Malik Bullard - Rise & Grind - 2029
The 6-foot-5 small forward was very comfortable when it came to operating the offense with and without the basketball in his hands, as he consistently was getting to his spots with movement and finished above the rim at a high level. He was also able to expand his offensive game, where he was catching and shooting with his smooth release from outside the three-point line with a ton of confidence. On the defensive end, his length and athleticism made a ton of havoc for opposing ball-handlers as he was active in the passing lanes, as well as altering shots at the rim.
Eli Basili - Sunshine Elite OTR - 2028
The 6-foot-1 sophomore point guard displayed a great feel and understanding of the game on both ends of the floor. On offense, he created paint touches as well as making smart reads to his teammates off penetration, where he set his teammates up for great looks to score. Basili also showed great poise while making the defense work with his ability to get downhill to finish at the rim at the point of attack. On defense, he made an immediate impact when it came to pressuring the passing lanes, forcing turnovers, and using his length when it came to playing above the rim. His combination of speed, athleticism, length, and energy was a huge focal point throughout the weekend as he could be a name to know ahead of his junior season.
Andre Wellington - Rise & Grind - 2029
The 5-foot-11 freshman combo guard found ways to contribute on the offense, where he was using his strong handle to attack the basket and stop on a dime when connecting on shots from the perimeter in the win over Oviedo Magic. Wellington stayed composed when it came to being active on the defensive end, showing great speed and court awareness, where he turned defense into offense in a hurry. He mixed his unique blend of two-way scoring, athleticism, energy, and toughness throughout the weekend, as he will be an emerging name to know as he gears up for his sophomore season.
Luke Lindsay - Team BallNetic - 2027
The 6-foot-3 shooting guard did a great job when it came to playing with confidence on the offensive end, where he was finishing at the rim through contact, as well as dishing out assists to his teammates. He was able to create his own pace and create separation when needed. He was also able to knock down shots from the perimeter with time and space off the catch as well as the bounce. On defense, he was able to anticipate the passing lanes, as well as utilize his size to play at the rim, being a strong rebounder. Overall, Lindsay showed he can impact the game in multiple areas and provide steady production to lift his team to an impressive weekend. Look for Lindsay to be an emerging prospect in the sophomore class as the spring continues to roll on.
DJ Hines - Oviedo Magic Elite - 2027
The 6-foot-2 junior point guard can produce himself as a scorer from the perimeter as well as finishing at the rim on the attack. He got out in transition, where he created opportunities for himself as well as getting his teammates involved from the lead guard position. He also controlled the pace and tempo, displaying his high IQ and great feel for the game on the offensive end. As his game continues to grow overall, look for Hines to be more than a bona fide scorer, but be more of a creator and leader on the offensive end. On defense, he did a great job when guarding positions 1 through 3 with his court awareness, energy, and activity in the passing lanes. His effort level helped keep his team afloat in the afternoon game against Team BallNetic. His relentless motor and ability to compete on both ends of the floor have drastically grown as he could be in line for a big summer as he gears up for his senior season.
