PLAYERS FEATURED
Florida’s underclassmen are some of the most talented in the nation. Between size and developing skill sets there are plenty of players we need to keep tabs on. This article is the second in a series that highlights some of the best 2029, 2030, and 2031 prospects from the Memorial Day Classic.
RJ Gipson | Hammond Hurricanes | 2029
Gipson had a few flashes on the final day that made me excited for his future. He’s a long athletic wing without good bursts of athleticism and timing. He pinned a shot to the backboard. He’s a good defensive prospect that anchored a defense as a vocal leader.
Eli Lewis | SE Select | 2029
Lewis fit in with his 17U teammates. Lewis has the physicality and strong frame thanks to his year of football. He provides energy and solid defense on the perimeter. Strong enough and scrappy enough to help on the boards as a 6’3 guard.
Jeremi Johnson | Hammond Hurricanes | 2029
Johnson is a lead guard with a consistent jump shot. Johnson Kris the defense honest with his jumper and has the quickness to get in the paint for floaters.
Joseph Lui | BDD | 2030
Lui is going to give defenses problems for years to come. He’s a consistent threat from deep who dropped for three pointers in the 14U championship game. When he’s on the ball he can initiate an offense and swing the ball.
Jaylyn Wilson | 478 Elite | 2029
Wilson brought shooting to the talented 478 Elite squad. He’s a lead guard who knows how to space the floor and force defense to keep an eye on him. He can get into the paint with his quickness and handle.
Cole McClamma | Florida Bayhawks | 2030
McClamma is a 6’2 shooting guard with a lethal jumper. He has a lightning quick release with deep range attached to it. McClamma can put the ball on the ground and use his jumper on the go. He’s talented and confident, scoring with good positional size.
Cannon Washington | Nightrydas | 2030
It looked like Washington wanted to make a name for himself this weekend with the way he took over the game. He’s a 6’6 wing with guard skills. Washington With his size, athleticism, and handle he can attack the rim from anywhere on the floor. Has the size and mindset to attack the defensive boards and start the break for early offense. Has all the tools to be an effective and switchable defender.
Isaiah Jones | Nightrydas | 2030
Jones brings a 6’6 frame to a team of eighth graders. He can grab rebounds and push the break. He’s a good athlete who can finish above the rim on the break. Jones has got physical tools and positional size entering high school.
Heitor Meira | Nightrydas | 2030
Meira is a 6’8 forward with a ton of potential. He’s still developing physically yet has the size and hands to rebound in traffic. He’s capable of stretching the floor
Cameron Nelson | Nightrydas | 2030
On a team filled with talented players Nelson combined his aggressiveness with control to play a much needed role. At 6’8 he has the strength and athleticism to be a double double threat even when playing 17U competition. He runs the floor, plays above the rim, and provides energy on both sides of the floor. Nelson has improved his footwork in the paint.
Josue Oku | SE Elite | 2029
Oku is a young, energetic 6’8 big. This weekend he showed off his footwork and hands in the paint with an array of difficult finishes. He’s a good rebounder and even better at running the floor. Between his hands, the energy he brings to the court, and his ability to finish in the paint we’re looking at a forward with a game ready skill set.
