The underclassmen are starting to make a name for themselves during the On The Radar circuit. I’ve rounded up seven ball players who are sophomores or younger that showed flashes of next level ability.
Charles “Blue” Madison | Florida Blaze | 2032
Madison plays the point guard position like he’s ready to log varsity minutes tomorrow. He has good court vision for his age and a natural feel for the game. He’s an on time, on target passer who can manipulate a defense and get someone open. He can shoot the three reliably while maintaining good form.
Kiyan Cooper | Worldwide Soldiers | 2030
Gibbs high school may have its next high level guard when 2030 guard Kiyan Cooper walks through the doors. He’s a bit undersized for the age group and makes up for it with big game moments. Cooper plays the point guard position with suited and poise being his years. He has range beyond the high school three and gets hot from deep when he’s in rhythm. Despite being a smaller guard he knows how create space with shoulder bumps and quickness to attack angles. Showed a ton of leadership down the stretch of the finals and semifinal games.
Josue Okur | Southeast Elite | 2029
Okur is a raw 6’8 power forward who plays with a ton of energy. His motor allows him to be a good run runner who can grab rebounds and affect shots in the paint. He can finish above the rim and is growing lob threat.
Xavier Dixon | PHS Academy | 2028
Dixon is a long athletic guard with a high motor. He has good defensive instincts with quick hands to match. He has good situational awareness in full court and half court traps. Dixon finishes in the paint with a consistent floater. He’s also a capable off knocking down threes off the catch.
Lucca Roppa | Exclusive Hoops | 2030
Roppa is a 6’2 guard who knows how to get to the rim out of screens. Whether it’s from a pin down or in a pick in roll at the top of the Roppa is barreling to the basket. There’s craft to Roppa’s finishing game and with the size and length he possesses he has an average over several defenders at this stage.
Isiah Phillip | TW3 | 2028
Phillips is a long athletic guard who passes the eye test. He’s an above the rim athlete that’s sparks many of his plays at this stage in the game. He can consistently knock down the three off the catch.
Ja’Ron Perry | Q6 All Stars | 2028
Perry is a 6’4 guard that changed the way teams ran their offense when he was on the floor. He doesn’t blow you away athletically but his feel for them game and ability to contain ball handlers. He gives you a big initiator on the offensive who plays at a pace that’s hard to speed up.
Cameron Nelson | Xtreme Icebreakers | 2030
Nelson is a 6’8 power forward who wants to punish the rim every chance he gets. He’s a tough, aggressive forward who plays hard on both sides of the floor. He’s a solid rim protector with the athletic pop at key and block shots at the rim. Nelson is a bit raw but the effort he plays with and physical tools will have him as one of the best 2030 prospects to start his high school career.
